You don't want to mount to dash or windshield so are you looking at ones that are clipped to the climate vents? There are a few threads on this topic. Hopefully one of them meets your wants.

Here's a dash mount that's not so bad.

Since I use Bluetooth for my phone, I generally keep the phone in my pocket or the cupholder.

If I had CarPlay I’d just keep my iPhone in the console but I bought Pro-fit brackets intended for the GLE and put them in both my ML and SL. I think I may have relocated the one in the SL since this picture (it’s been under a cover since December).

Magnetic mount charges phone.

I just installed this on my car, I'd say it's the best mount I've had on any of my cars. Subtle, folds away and covers every angle you'd want.

I too used a Lissen model (they have quite a few) and absolutely love it. The magnetic ring holds my iPhone 15 Pro TIGHTLY, it’s not coming off even if the car went *** over keister. It has an almost infinite range of motion and is very well designed. I also did not use the backing plate and have had no issues after over a year or 2 in my hot Florida climate. In fact, I love the placement, as to my eye it makes the dash more symmetrical with the opposing Engine Start/Stop button in the other corner. ;-)
