Things are finally showing up that need attention.

I am not mad about them at all. Annoyed yes, but not mad about them. With all the miles I have put on if this is the rate of repairs then it’s a win for me.

1st.
The other day I noticed that the netting, or screen, or whatever you want to call it that is in the pop up wind buffer (when the top is down) has come free on the one side. It is about a 2” section on the corner that now flaps in the wind. The same week I noticed that when the wind buffer is rising it is getting stuck part way on one side. I can pull it up the last few inches and it goes down without issue, but always gets stuck now on the one side while going up. I sprayed some lubricant down in the joints and moving parts, but that only worked for a day, or two. Probably better to get the entire section with the netting included, unless you guys have a better idea?

2nd.
A rock broke the glass of my lower running light. Likely when I was on the highway, because there always seems to be construction being done on 95 and 695. The light still works and it is not just a crack in the light, it is a section missing. Noticed it last week. Bummer because I replaced that light once before when something fell out of a trailer that was being towed and hit it. I purchased a used one prior on this site that worked perfectly. I will just find another one online used. It will only be a matter of time, before water shorts out that light like before. Did you know that you can turn those running lights off, so they won’t come on while driving? I turned them off before so the police wouldn’t pull me over for a light out.

3rd.
My buttons are starting to shed the black and show the white that is under them. The damage is from my fingernails. No matter how much I try to keep them trimmed they scrape the buttons over time. Radio button, the round knob by the center console, Steering wheel buttons, etc. I will make a project out of it and replace all, OR I might take all the black off and apply something like paint, or stickers, or I don't know it place of the black. Would you be interested in a how to video and that project?

Any ideas on how to proceed? I know how to replace everything, but that windscreen and it may be other ideas that I have not thought of for the buttons. I drove the car today and will grab some picks in a bit.

As always thanks for reading and for any suggestions...

Edit——-Pics and attached vid of wind buffer in motion. Naturally the wind buffer went up without getting stuck his time.

The passenger side bracket of the wind screen/deflector, is most likely broken. Could be missing the snap too. See thread below…
You’ll need to either get another bracket somehow, or replace the whole assembly. If it’s the little snap you can try a replacement.

Theres a bunch of info I posted here:

Do you by chance use lotion on your hands? Could also be as simple as changing HOW you push the button.
Those are definitely going to be high wear areas no matter the mfg’er.
Also, with second hand cars, we never know the history. (i.e. what products used in detailing)

Good Luck

No. I can see “hints” of them starting to wear/chip, whatever, but it’s barely starting. At the current rate it will be a few more years before they are noticeable like the others...

The drivers side is the side that was getting stuck on the corner when rising. The passenger side is the side with the corner rip. It’s actually not a rip. The little grommet/snap that holds the net in place is missing I see. The net itself has no rips. It’s just no longer attached on the corner. I figured I would need to replace that entire part to solve the two issues at once. I already know that part will likely be pricey.

Most times I do not use lotion on my hands, but I do use it from time to time.

I have been trying to teach myself and get into the habit of pushing the buttons differently. The funny thing is I NEVER use those arrows to toggle right and left up on the radio, but they are still worn. I guess my other finger hits it when I’m turning the knob. I have started using the steering wheel volume up and down.
