SL/R231: Oil Filter Doesn't Look Right

Oil Filter Doesn't Look Right
Went to San Diego Mercedes to buy a factory oil filter -- but something doesn't look right to me.

Part# 276-180-00-09 on the box.. but Filter has a different Number.
Also the filter looks poorly made, dented in the pleating.

Has anyone ever seen this from a Factory Oil Filter?

Yep, that’s good. The L394 is the Purflux manufacturer’s part number.

The filter pleats themself make this weird indentation (the part shown in the pic)
Have you ever seen the seem come together like that?

It's a little short in that area

Not sure why there is a different Mercedes part number on the filter, but the L394 and Purflux tells you that it is the correct filter. Maybe Mercedes changed the part number for some reason.

How about the pleats where they come together, it's a seem.

Comes up short, and a little glue showing where there should be a full Pleat..imo

Here are some pics of my filters. I buy the Purflux because they are the OE for Mercedes. I usually get mine from FCPEuro because I can send used ones back for a refund.

Mine are a couple of years old, dated 2023 and 2024. Yours has a 2025 date (24JUL25). Not sure that means anything, but yours is newer.

That seem area looks the same - a little indented like my filter.
Not sure why they make it that way, but they are similar.
