My SM told me there wouldn’t any market adjustment for us but we didn’t discuss any discounts either though. I’ve also purchased 10 cars from them. I’ve got $1k deposit down. Fingers crossed we keep it too which depends on the state of my current GLE and pricing.

Maybe a typical regional thing? I never paid deposits for any of my cars (several of them >$200K list price), but it helps if you don't choose a very crazy color combination..........and the dealer knows you of course.

And certainly I did never pay a premium on list price. Discounts are of course more difficult with newer cars, but a few % is always possible (at least overhere in EU/NL) when ordering from new. For stocked cars of cars much more % discount normally.

Wow! That converts to a lot of $$$. That must include the optional retractable hardtop.

No confirmation here but the German MB's costs more than our cars in America. Expect it to cost more than the outgoing SL63 which was $150k back in 2015.

Question

Mine is showing a build date of August. This is for an SL55, supposedly one of the first 10 SLs at a large So Cal dealer.

Press Embargo ends mid January

According to various YouTube reviewers, the worldwide press embargo ends mid-January, and one reviewer specifically said January 12. So be on the lookout for more detailed reviews this week. My local dealer informed me that this week is about the time they would have pricing. I placed an order for an SL63 in Alpine Grey back in November, but obviously no pricing was available. Hopefully the pricing will be reasonable and I will proceed with the build. Maybe we'll get an update on production this week as I've seen estimates all over the map. I currently have a 2021 GLS 63 AMG and love it but it's a beast. Need a smaller companion, and I'm really hoping the SL63 pricing and timing works out. It's a beautiful car, at least in the pictures and videos, and after moving from Porsche to Mercedes with my GLS, I'd prefer to stick with the Mercedes.

I am going to place an order this week for a 63. My dealer told me that their first cars should be coming through in April and May and then indeed I can go ahead and make an order with the custom orders will be eight months out. However, if I like one of the new car is that they have coming in, and they will know how they are configured in about two months, I can go ahead and take one of those from their inventory. In my last two AMG GTs (an S and a C) I had the grey and black interior - but from the DOG, the only grey they have is a Sage Grey and that looks like Green (from the DOG anyway). Don't know what interior I will get. Not sure what exterior color but I have to say the Patagonia red metallic looks nice. My last two were Brilliant Blue (no longer available) but the Starling Blue looks nice.

I always loved our Porcelain White/Black Nappa in the R231 SL. After a quick glance I would pick the Monza Gray Magno and the Exclusive Machiato if available with the performance seats. Add CCB's, DA2, DY2, Carbon Fiber trim, RWG wheels, Night Package & exterior Carbon package, 3D Burmester, black soft top.

But I would want to see all these colors in the flesh. Backup color for me would be the Starling Blue Magno or Patagonia Red. That color does look nice on pics.

I am going to meet with the dealer this coming week and see if any of those exterior paint colors are available to see on other models. Ditto for the interior layouts. I am thinking of the RWF 21" wheels. Like a little bling. Definitely DA2 and DY2. Not sure about the Carbon fiber trim, Night pkg and exterior carbon pkg. HiEnd Burmester is a no brainer for me...and yes black soft top.

I think the exterior carbon package makes sense to minimize the look of that huge black diffuser. The silver trim is an option but I think the CF looks a bit nicer. Wish there would be no shiny black panels..

As usual different people have different criteria....I prefer real 2 seater roadster for my ideal convertible.

@California John Lies (my wife and I both were told it). Waiting over a month to get a service appointment and even then not getting to work on the car for almost 4 days, V8 problems they can’t fix. After a service appointments I still have the same problems. Put money down on the car and was told I was first only to be told later that others are now getting one before me (I’ve purchased multiple cars from the dealership too).
What would you do?

Dealers have the upper hand now. If you really have to have this car then pay extra and play their game, nothing wrong with that. Otherwise you would have to be ok with waiting or taking an alternative. That’s ok too.

Price is a VERY small part of my problem since my dealer promised no market adjustment. I’m really just scared of buying a MB V8 right now and after talking with some people while picking up my GLE580 from service and a CEL with vibration this morning, I think I’m going to stay away from them right now (it’s still not fixed and going back in Monday). There’s more to MB canceling a lot of the V8s other than just supply issues.

I would never believe it's a supply issue. It's likely a compliance issue with the V8s for the U.S. market because the rest of the world is still getting V8s. The V8 isn't cancelled it's just not coming here outside of the S and SL. Someone at the company needs to leak the real info.

There are a few pics of the Sage Grey in the other (Picture) thread. Not my cup of tea.
Let's hope the Crystal Silver will become available soon (have it now in my current car), but the brown interior looks very good too!

I had 2 Mercedes Benz 4 liter V-8s in my last two Mercedes-Benz cars. One was an AMG GTS and the other in AMG GTC. Each was flawless. Extraordinary smoothness and power. My new AMG SL63 will have one as will the new AMG GT's - built on the same platform as the new AMG SLs. BTW, there is an open area in the SL's frame for an electric motor - which may join the SLs in a few years.

Chrome

I'm in the process of finalizing my order before it goes final and have a question that the dealer can't seem to answer. My current order is for an obsidian black SL63 (without the performance or night packages). I like the extra chrome (side skirts and front and rear diffusers) that's available as an option on the SL55. It's not an option on the SL63. Does anyone know if that's because it's standard on the touring (non-performance) version of the SL63, or would those elements come though as black or body color?

My production date just moved up to the 3rd decade in April. Looks like I'll have the car by the end of May.
