Regardless of your dealer's assumption, the photos of the press cars are definitely macchiato/grey, not black. Same with the order guide, and as I mentioned, my build sheet prior to the delay. Macchiato Exclusive on the S-class also gets grey (Magma) constrasting leather on the dash. Of course it's possible they will reintroduce it as macchiato/black, but at this time I would assume it will still be grey.

It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. I'm certain that the upholstery will be stunning whenever I receive the car.

In addition, my dealer in NJ will probably have a $25k premium but, since I am a long time and frequent buyer of AMGs, it would be $10k. Since I will be taking delivery on a new Turbo S coupe next week and paid MSRP, I will pass on the SL. I have been very loyal to Mercedes and AMG starting with my first Mercedes which was a 1999 E55 AMG. But this treatment of their customers and still not knowing a price, was the final straw!
Why should anyone pay +10K, +25K or let alone +40K premium for a car already ordered.....that is from one of the first production batches, etc, etc ??? Better wait for MY23, and start enjoying Spring 2023 in a newer car at a normal price!

Happy that over here (EU) we still can get cars at list price, or even little less with some discount, depending on your history with dealer and your trade-in car, if any.

In Germany you can buy about 30 (almost) new SL63, with max 15K km on it, or even brand new (some are production April, May, some to be delivered in June, July), see mobile.de.

I see where the US base price of the SL63 is $178,100. Does anyone know the US base price of the SL55?

Well, the SL63 cannot currently be configured in any exclusive leather. I'll have to wait for the 2024 model. This is disappointing.

It's typical to have prices like this in America where money is no object and we Amoricans will pay all of our money for something we want to be first to have.....capitalism is our gift to the world

I would have thought that vehicles ordered and spaced by customers early on like November/December would be the first ones to be arriving in port. However, that appears not to be the case. It looks like that MB built a bunch of cars and are ready to be shipped to dealers in early August. There are a substantial number of cars in Baltimore Harbor, and it would appear that those are not cars specified by customers.

How does that work?

My dealer has informed me that my SL63, which was ordered in October, is at the vehicle preparation center in Baltimore. He thinks it should be released by MB in the next couple of weeks, and then 7 to 10 days on the road to the dealership.

I see the gas’s guzzler tax. It’s the last item on my order sheet. It’s code D6C at $0; I think it’s already included in the msrp.

^ Gas guzzler tax is not included in the $137,400 MSRP. Neither is $1,050 for destination/delivery.

I see the destination charge of $1050 but the gas guzzler is under the list of all the standard accessories at no cost.

I will call my sales guy on Monday to confirm.

Indeed. Looks like you weren’t forced into ordering DA2 either. Is your car built?

when you get your pricing along with the vin the gas guzzler charge will be in there. If you just ordered one I would assume it will be a 2023 and not a 2022. Mine was built and at the port since April which was why it’s a 2022 but I can’t imagine why a new one being built would still be 22.

My SL63 should be done by Aug 9 according to my dealer, but who knows when it will get here. Wonder when a build will become '23 vs '22

Judging by the fact that he didn’t know what the gas guzzler tax was his answer is maybe not 100% correct.

The $1,300 Gas Guzzler Tax is on every build sheet with the code GAS.
