I didn't realize that....that's Porsche prices, and with Porsche you get better customer service too Well in my dealings anyway But still, for the SL to have gone up that much
isn't entirely reasonable just crazy.

Now there I'll agree with you. I've been waiting for pricing on this car to determine if I order one of these or go for a Porsche, at this price point the Porsche just gives so much more car and I can pick any color/interior combination my heart desires.

Ha, sure ... they were also massively discounted because almost no one wanted them.
Inflation is only as real as the market warrants, if these sell out at msrp then that's what it is, if they go for premiums then that's where it is, and if they start getting discounted inflation in other sectors won't help them.
By pricing this car where they did MB made the latter the most likely outcome. Nothing like trying to keep the ADMs to themselves a year too late and in a softening market.
We all make our choices on how much things are worth to us ... I like the SL63 and I was looking forward to mine, but not at $208 msrp.
GM should send a thank you letter to MB ... they just made the Z06 HTC lists a lot longer.

That's a great point! Porsche outdoes MB with options 20 fold haha! It's unbelievable the amount of options on a Pcar

Wolfman, whatya think, you have been quiet? As previously stated, off to the UK shortly and hope to see and drive one in person.

R8 is a supercar. The most livable supercar available, but a supercar and will come with the associated compromises (ride comfort, practicality, service, city drivability, etc.). The R8 is also being discontinued within the next year and has very little availability. Not really competitors in a sense imo and two very different buyers/experiences.

AMG GTC Roadster, E63s Ed.1, M8 Comp. Coupe
1. It is overpriced as available. It is about $13k pricier than the GTC roadster which, while devoid of some interior tech and light show is a joy to drive and roughly 700lbs lighter.
It also comes with exclusive Nappa and alcantara by default so no MB-Tex in the car. Too bare-bone for the money.
Porsche has options galore and easy to spec up but I find the result when loaded much more special than what MB has to offer.
2. This car shouldn’t be a ‘22 based on Lauch timing. Whoever buys one will see jaw dropping depreciation as soon as the ‘24 is coming next July/August. Old model + missing important options + too much money spent at launch aka list or even ADM.

Well, I'm about to achieve a life-long goal: paying over 200k for a car . Actually $201,200 based on the configurator prices. I have not seen the breakdown from my dealer, so there will likely be some additional costs.
Someone asked whether Alpine Grey was available with a red roof. That's what I wanted, but I was told months ago that the combination was not available. I tried it on the configurator, and it switched the paint to Selanite Grey. So I've got Alpine Grey, Performance Trim, extended night package, black roof, red leather, silver shadow trim, 21" black y-spoke wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, driver assistance package, Burmeister stereo upgrade. The only thing on the options list that surprised me was that the silver shadow trim is a $750 add, whereas black piano lacquer is $0. If I'd known the black lacquer was "free" (haha), I'd have specified it. But I won't lose any sleep over that detail. The finished product should be more than presentable.
Of course, I still have no clue when it will arrive.

I sold the S63 Cab back to the dealer shortly after I bought a GLA45. A weird switch, but I thought I'd have a new drop-top within a couple of months. Wrong, of course. The GLA45 is a fun vehicle, but I'm ready for something more exciting.

2021 AMG E63s Wagon
R232 Annuity
If I had dumb kids would definitely be on the list for a R232 SL55. Got pay raise in 2021 when Daughter graduated MIT and purchased AMG Wagon. Now have to wait until 2026 for Son to graduate. Hopefully there will be pure AMG TTV8s left without E-assist? Stock Market will be down for next couple of years...

Maybe I am getting a bit forgetful, but I think there are a few changes from what was there originally:
1 - there now is a charge for all paints except yellow - before for example there was no surcharge for selenite grey.
2 -there is no up-charge for the red roof - it was $ 450 before
Maybe I am getting a bit muddled up with all these constant changes?!?

Just saw demo SL63, fully dressed, at dealer. All black. Told AMG rep that I'd seen a similar one posted somewhere 'up Nawth' on this forum. She said there were six in the nation, all the same, making dealer rounds. Came from Atlanta, here then on to Texas and Colorado. No soft close doors. Transmission shifter on column. Interior appears 'tight' compared to 231, perhaps because of black everything and that intrusive tablet. Rear vision poor due to rear seat's head rest and small rear window. Headliner not firm, as I would have expected. Said wheel base extended 5", yet body only 1" longer. Trunk space smaller than 231. I spoke of only four colors for interiors and she said more are available. Salesperson able to pull up Macchiato beige with quilting along with other colors. She said next year there will be a carbon fiber grey colored top available.
