Configurator and pricing for U.S. now up and running

SL55 starting at $137.4. SL63 starting at $178.1

It’s about time!! Pricing is pretty reasonable but the configurator is not accurate. My car has Patagonia red with sienna brown interior (I had to go with that since the exclusive ones were not an option). The configurator says you can’t have that combination which I know is not correct as mine is sitting at the port in that combination. At this point I still don’t know if I’m going to take delivery since I got tired of waiting and bought a 911.

Lower price than I was expecting, I still find the 55 is the sweet spot imo. Looks like they got rid of certain interior colors from the configurator, as well as the performance bucket seats. I guess those items will be delayed.

Guess I’m waiting a while. No carbon ceramic brakes, no Machiato Beige or White interior and only yellow calipers on the 63. Seems odd that you can get red calipers on the 55 but not the 63.

I suspect Larry, Moe and Curly now run MB. I attempted to access the MB website......it was without prices. Lack of colors, options and prices typifies the SL introduction.......SAD. I will wait until (if??) MB gets their act together.

Not just the press release - their own dealer network got a note only today with prices. So, I suppose some genius in MB believes removing the prices today makes everyone "unsee" yesterday's information.
I am German myself and have been a lifelong fan of MB - but I need to say MB is doing a great job destroying the myth of " German Efficiency" it all looks a lot more like
"Amateur Hour".
BTW- a guy by the name of Brian Cotter is the AMG product manager for the SL - and I think I shall drop him a lite at Brian.Cotter@daimlerbenz.com

Would you mind if I also drop Brian Cotter a line????
I'm not a marketing guy, just an SL fan for the last 36 yrs.....I still cherish my original SL, a 560 with 272 original miles. I have bought and kept each SL in the series --------600,65.65------and acquired the rest of the SL series starting with a GW. Perhaps the clown college graduates that run marketing should have asked long time clients a few questions about the final R232. I would bet most would find the rear seats silly, request more exterior/interior and top colors, and redesign the ridiculous center console screen as a start. The R232 is a toy, not a required need. Maybe give the consumer what they really want????
My prediction: There will be an initial feeding frenzy and then sales will tank

Mercedes-Benz USA announces pricing and curated trims for all-new Mercedes-AMG SL
Mercedes-Benz USA announces pricing and curated trims for all-new Mercedes-AMG SL
The highly anticipated 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL represents the rebirth of an icon, returning to its roots with a classic soft top and sporty character, as well as a luxurious 2+2 seat roadster suitable for everyday use. With its stunning design, state-of-the-art technology and exceptional driving characteristics, the new 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL sets a new standard in the luxury sports car segment. Combining the sportiness of the original SL with the unique luxury and technological excellence that characterizes modern Mercedes vehicles, the AMG SL 55 will start from $137,4001 and the AMG SL 63 will start from $178,1001.
Both Mercedes-AMG SL models will be offered in two specially curated trims for the U.S. market: Touring and Performance. Building upon a wealth of standard equipment, the trim lines provide a high level of sporty and luxurious features as well as a broad range of options for individualization.
For the first time in its 70-year history, the SL features a drive system acting on all four wheels. AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive technology is standard on both AMG SL models. The system’s fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axles ensures optimum traction at the physical limit as well as high handling stability and a high level of safety under all conditions.
The new AMG SL also features a multi-link front suspension with five control arms arranged entirely within the rim, which is the first of its kind in a series-production Mercedes-AMG vehicle. This significantly improves the kinematics. At the rear axle, a 5-link design likewise controls the wheels.
The AMG SL 55 is fitted standard with a newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL steel suspension equipped with high-performance aluminum dampers and lightweight coil springs. An innovative AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active, hydraulic roll stabilization is optional for that model and equipped standard on the AMG SL 63. The system enables optimal cornering and load change behavior, with typical AMG driving dynamics, precision and feedback for the driver. It also increases ride comfort when driving in a straight line and over bumps.
The luxury sports car is equipped with active rear-axle steering as standard – another first in the long history of the SL. Depending on the speed, the rear wheels steer either in the opposite direction (up to 62 mph) or in the same direction (faster than 62 mph) as the front wheels. The system is designed to improve cornering, maneuverability and handling stability.
Fitting of its triumphant racing pedigree, the new Mercedes-AMG SL is powered by a Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine, assembled entirely by hand at the company's site in Affalterbach according to the "One Man, One Engine" principle. The powertrain in the AMG SL 63 develops 577 hp and delivers 590 lb-ft of torque from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph takes only an estimated 3.5 seconds, while the top speed is 196 mph. In the AMG SL 55, the V8 unit produces 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The sprint from a standstill to 60 mph is completed in an estimated 3.8 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 183 mph. Both models feature the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission as standard, which combines an emotionally appealing gearshift experience with extremely short shift times.
The equipment details and numerous options offer a wide range of individualization for the most discerning customer tastes. This includes twelve available paint finishes, numerous Nappa leather upholstery colors and styles, two soft top color variants and multiple new wheel designs in 20- and 21-inch diameters. Five exterior design packages are available to further sharpen the look including an AMG Aerodynamics Package, Exterior Carbon Package, Exterior Chrome Package, Night Package and an Extended Night Package.
Poised to transform the tradition of the iconic first 300 SL Roadster into the modern era, the all-new Mercedes-AMG SL will arrive in U.S. dealerships in the summer.
