Where in the world are ......??

I must be struck by blindness or stupidity, but I can't find:

a) oil pressure gauge

b) voltage/amp information gauge

I have looked high and low but have struck out.

Can you help please!

I have heard back from MB and the sad and surprising and sad news is that oil pressure and voltage gauges are not present on the 2022 AMG SL !

The car has every piece of trivial and useless information available at times arranged in displays of video game quality and one has to wonder if they do not take away the attention of the driver from the road to the screen.

However, they do not have a piece of information that really is quite important to a lot of folks who actually enjoy sports car - oil pressure!

Go figure!!

Much of this in all car companies can be attributed to younger hires (engineers, etc..,) who didn't necessarily grow up around cars but rather game consoles, which gives them a disconnect in my mind. As older school management and engineers retire this is what we're looking at. Like it or not, another fact is the younger generation of customers have no problem accepting most of this and probably think it's all pretty cool. So it will only continue.

I can't remember the last Mercedes or BMW that I've been in that had a real Oil Pressure gauge. Most of them just feature temperatures of oil, transmission, water, etc.

I don't recall Oil pressure either but voltage information should be there. We definitely have that in MBUX, perhaps @js_cls could look at his S-Class.

I don’t believe voltage is present in MBUX 2.0. The info panel shows consumption, vehicle (will show accelerator vs brake used, etc.), and engine which has temperatures and power.

Really? The engine screen doesn't show voltage? Our GLE is in service so I took a quick pic from our GLC loaner. MBUX looks like this...

Not in MBUX 2.0 that I can find. There is temperatures, power, and boost pressure.

Good to know. But maybe with 48V systems the voltage question is moot...

From what I can read 48 volt batteries have their own problems with a class action lawsuit having been filed. Apparently the failure rate of even brand new batteries is alarming. I am afraid that js_cls is correct with how the screen looks - and it does not include voltage.

Can you use a $5 OBDII reader and read this data from a ODBII analyzer app?

Not in gauge form, but there's a bunch of vehicle data available in the workshop menu such as voltage/amp and even battery temperature. Don't remember if oil pressure is there, but it probably is. On the newer cars the workshop menu can be accessed by bringing up the trip computer in the instrument cluster with ignition on position 1, then press the left home button on the steering wheel until the menu comes up and then briefly press the touch pad. Below is an example from my 2019 C63S.

Hi John, I hope you are enjoying your new SL - just beautiful.

I had seen this screen, but no, I am looking for oil pressure, rather than oil temperature as well as information on the alternator doing its work and the condition of the battery.

Thank you and I will later on play around with this to see if this information is still available on the latest software and provide feedback.

I am really quite terrible at technology and hope I understand your instructions properly to try to get this to work on the SL.

The software on the SL looks drastically different and I was unable to replicate the scenario you described. Thanks for trying.

I can also not discount the possibility that I am just not savvy enough to make this work.

Tifoso - I am going to assume that you got an owners manual with your car. Look on page 242 where Driver Display menus are written about. You will see on the left-hand side of the page how to scroll on the menu bar. Then you're going to scroll through these various display menus to the one that says service. That is the one that has all of those details that I showed on the screenshot. I believe it is also elsewhere as I seem to have come across it somewhere else as I have been fiddling around with the screens. You can experiment with these different drivers display menus. My word for it all is dashboard but I guess the correct word in their language is Driver Display. Anyway there's a menu bar where you can change it substantially. And then also within each of those drivers displays there are often various variations that can be customized. Just play around there is nothing you can break! I give the owners manual three out of 10 stars but it does have some uses!

John, thank you and yes that is exactly as you stated.

please take a look at the comments/photos of “Superswiss” on October 2 - same thread.
That is what I was trying to recreate, but it appears that the software in his automobile is drastically different from the new SL. I am sure there are “workshop menus” in the new SL but probably in a different spot and accessible in a different method.

I am really trying to somehow get to oil pressure and alternator/ battery performance .

sorry if I caused any confusion.
