Good timing as I just dropped the car at the dealer in the morning.. I got the update a month ago (along with the fan blower timer recall) and then the same issue happened again after 3 weeks so I am not sure if the update was successful in my case. On the negative, it has reduced the numbers of times my door handles extend (before it was 50/50, now 70/30 with 30 being the success rate)
Thanks for update. I’ve not received notice of fan motor recall. Do you have a reference number for it? Not have I received notification for key fob air update.
Friends, lock the car whith press two times an let the key far from the car, thast the solution, when i travel or dont use the 15 day or more i Put the car in stand by mode, close the car whith 2 clicks and the key from the car, i never have a notice or problem whith batery.
If you let the car open whith the key inside the notice of 12 v apears, IN ALL THE NEW MODELS OF MB.

Agree, this works! Keeping the key in a Faraday box (any distance from the SL) has worked better for me than keeping the key far away.

YES! This has been my complaint all along. If these new vehicles require what I feel are extraordinary precautions, the manufacturer should TELL the customers, BEFORE they sign on the dotted line. I believe that a “WARNING” or “ADVISORY” sticker should be affixed to new cars, right next to the window sticker and another on the steering wheel, so that potential buyers are forewarned that these vehicles do need to be treated differently than all previous models. Massive problems, resulting in huge inconveniences and expense—to both customers & dealers—have been caused by not advising customers ahead of time. Unfortunately, it appears that MB is STILL refusing to do this, preferring to use the “HEAD IN THE SAND” approach, which is thoroughly pissing off many customers. This is absolutely unacceptable, in my opinion.
P.S. AND, we here on this site represent a tiny fraction of the MB owners out there. WE are reasonably informed and look at how many problems have been posted on this topic. Imagine the poor folks out there who just take delivery and don’t frequent websites like this one. What are THEY going through?

Final solution to my battery issues on 22 SL63 (this is after all updates/recalls in the market and being at dealer 6-7 times). The car kept locking out at different locations without a logical reason or error codes (all battery related, you will need a physical key to get in, it starts after 4-5 attempts but nothing else works)
This is always after on trickle charger all night, new battery and driving at least 20+ miles before the issue.
SL 63 is an excellent car when it works but shouldn't be sold to consumers with these unresolved issues esp. at a $200k price tag. I did give Mercedes every benefit of doubt during this process but patience has a limit.

This albeit sadly, sums it up nicely.
Very happy to see MBUSA stepped up and is repurchasing, this type of positive corrective action is the only thing that gives me comfort to give them another shot ala the '25 CLE 53 AMG I recently ordered for my wife.
What's going to be the replacement?
I want to give an update on my saga with MB. I did take advantage of the MB buyback on my 22 SL 55 in May. Payout was very fair. They did not pay for the second set of winter wheel package nor my car tint/wrap etc but I did expect that. I purchased a 24 SL 55 and noticed several things immediately. The build quality is substantially better. Drive is better. The most important thing-no starter battery issues. I do double lock and place the key in a Faraday bag. My fingers are crossed that everything remains as expected. Will give updates as they arise. My hope was the 24 models would have the issues sorted out and (so far) it appears to be the case. Thanks

Not sure if the software is where it should be but otherwise, maybe Mercedes fixed a few hardware issues they had in the early models, I don't know.
My car has been manufactured March 30th 2023, according to the German dealer, it is a German MY 2024 car. The issues I had so far with this car are minor, only one more serious issue at 2000 km (engine misfiring) but they sorted it out, it had something to do with the fact that my car stood almost a year in a dealer's showroom unuses (fuel and fuel pump issues). So far, knock on wood, there are no serious issues with the car and I enjoy it tremendously.
Still hoping for a few better software updates to sort out a few of issues I think it has but it may take a while.

Interesting comment regarding build quality. What in your observation is better? Quality of materials, fit/finish? Anything materially different? Some early models had paint issues. I suspect we'll see facelift within the next couple years.
The tightness of the handles, the ride quality, the fit of the finished surfaces. The steering feels tighter. The car overall just feels better-AND no 12 V battery issues!! I did have the car detailed at my professional technician who wrapped the car and did some paint correction-something he sees on most MB.

Terrific. Sorry you had to go through the hassles of a buy back but glad to hear your new SL55 is solid. It does seem that the R232s with the most significant issues were 2022s. My 2023 SL55 is mostly trouble-free but I do double lock the key and keep it in a Faraday box as you do. Mercedes should give all new model S and SL owners a fancy Mercedes Faraday key box.

Yes, they should. But what they REALLY need to do, is to describe the procedure in the OWNER'S MANUAL! Until they do that, the car is still defective, in my opinion.

Completely wrong approach in my opinion: Mercedes should offer an option in the MBUX menue where customers can TURN OFF the keyless opening system, so the system doesn't permanently recognize the key. Much easier than having to press different buttons (which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't).
Yesterday, my local dealer did the ignition control unit update, so the system doesn't look for a key all the time, which is supposed to improve the battery life. We'll see...
