3D Sound Thoughts
There are 2 SL63s that I'm considering. One has 3D sound, and one does not. I have an S580 with 4D sound and love it. I've previously had an S-Class Cabriolet with 3D sound. I'm of the mindset that "once I've had the option I can't not have it on a different car." Just wondering the difference in the SL. Any info/advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

It works fine and does seem to improve the overall sound quality. I read an article by a supposed sound expert who was analyzing this subject in high end cars like Bentleys and RRs. He preferred using the "Pure" setting instead since it represents a more realistic playback of the original material. I tried both and liked the Surround better. But, my top is almost always down so it could be that the selected amplification in Surround helps overcome wind noise better. Just my opinion and the "Expert" sounded too snooty for my tastes.
Thanks a ton! I appreciate the input. I'm considering a Patagonia Red that does not have it and an Arabian Grey that does have it....along with the $9k carbon ceramic brakes...which I don't need. I love the red, but will probably go with the grey since it has the 3D sound.

My guess is that the 3-D sound is part of the high end Burmeister sound package. Which I think gives a vastly superior Sound system to the stock Burmeister Sound system. I have had both and the high-end system gives for my ears a much more clear sound.

I find the stock Burmester in the SL to be far better than the top of the line Burmester option in a 911.

I agree! The main reason I got the ceramic brakes was due to the lack of brake dust. In my previous GTS, and my GTC, brake dust was my enemy. That enemy has fled the field.

Happy that it worked out that way but I am curious, did you try those claimed no-dust or low-dust brake pads before going to CCB route? If so, your experience with those?

Thank you for your response to my question as well I appreciate it. I got curious because in another thread (in the final edition when the car didn't include CCB for a certain market they were glad it wasn't included, so I was wondering why...)

I agree with others that CCB’s are one of the best options you can get on an AMG…

I thought so, and I think shortage wasn't the reason why it was missing.

I got the CCB. You are right….hitting the brakes is like dropping an anchor…..and no brake dust! I love this car.
