SL63 vs M8 vs R8
A drag race not to be taken too seriously but the SL63 did rather well...

The SL63 actually profits from a wet pavement, the AWD of the SL63 is amazing.
I had a a SL63 testcar for a weekend and it was wet and I destroyed a 992 Carrera 4 GTS and a M4 Competition xDrive (two friends who wanted to know how good their cars accelerate in comparison with the SL). The SL was ahead at least two car lengths after a few seconds.

M8 v SL63
I had the M8 Competition convertible. It was noticeably faster than my SL63, but the SL corners much better. Both excellent cars, but the M8 had less annoying problems. Like not having to replace the engine. But, a horrible BMW dealership so it's always something.

Engine issue
Yes, a 232 at about 21,000 miles. Check engine light came on and engine sounded abnormal so I had MB tow it in. After two months of effort (me watching on the MB app seeing when doors open, miles driven, ignition on, etc) and consulting with engineers in Germany, AMG said they couldn't find out what the problem was so they put in a new engine. A $72,000 part. It has run fine since then.

How the hell could they not know, or maybe they just didn’t want you to know lol. Glad it’s sorted but disconcerting nonetheless. In 07 I bought a new Carrera S, and at ~14,000 miles the engine grenaded while driving at ~35 mph, it too was replaced and sent back to Germany for further analysis. The tech said an internal component failed but that’s all he was allowed to say.
