Smart Key Recognition for user profiles
User manual page 262 says you can set this up so you don't have to use voice or fingerprint to access your profile. I am the only one driving this thing and I am annoyed by having to press the fingerprint sensor all the time. So I decided to somehow disable it if possible. Looks like you can program a smart key to your profile. But my car does not have the menu option: "Smart Key Recognition", under "Protect Content". My profile does load automatically though. Without me doing anything. Maybe the manual is behind the latest software update.

Yep. I will. So far I can tell that if I unlock the profile, and just open and sit into the car, I do not need to do anything. It loads "me". My profile. But I have only done one quick run to the gas station for some low car beer
. I will report back.

How do you unlock the profile?
Edit: Never mind, found it

For others, just tap the profile circle icon on the top right of the "iPad". Then the second menu on the left.
So I was not able to connect the profile to the key, at least I don't think I did. But if I keep the profile unlocked, I just sit in the car and the profile is selected (though I only have one profile) and all I do is press the home button. Then you get the welcome voice. Works fine. Why on earth one would need to "protect" a profile and use fingerprints, etc... beyond me. Not on this car.

I followed your directions and turned off the "protect" feature and I no longer have to use my fingerprint every time I use the car. Love it.

I also disconnected the apple car play as that sometimes just takes minutes to load and I would get a mostly black home screen, unable to do anything. That may be the phone, and not the car, or neither, or both. Don't care to find out. It is off for good.

I think I have tried that and also tapping favorites a few times. But I am not a fan of CarPlay. The look does not match the theme of the car's UI in any car. I was just lazy to learn MB's UI. Now I am forcing myself. The one thing I will miss is starting audio books so easily.
