Has mb learned their lesson?

So with the GT priced considerably less than the SL, it might appear mb has.

The GT coupes are/were traditionally more expensive than the amg SL’s from what I recall. My dealer was also expecting the new GT 63 coupe to be far more expensive.

The rub here is the M8 is a better value $ for $ compd to the 55 or 63.

We picked a M8 convertible and absolutely love it. Build quality, interior finishes, switchgear that works, and wicked fast. No interest in the SL at his time.

The M8 is the only BMW I like. It's the only one I'd consider over a MB.

I don't think people will pick one over the other based on value for money (not at this end of the market), so it boils down to preference. Personally I'm not a BMW fan, and a torque converter transmission kills it for me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but I prefer the look of the SL. I do think the M8 is one of the better looking BMWs these days though.

The one and only BMW I ever bought was a 25th bday present for my daughter. Their design language continues to go downward. There are some strange MBs too, but the SL still grabs my eye.

Better value means more power for the $ and that's important to me, and I'd imagine important to others where cost is not an issue, but performance is.

2022 SL 63
I don't think so. Even ~two years ago when the GT was initially being developed and stuff, it was already pretty public that it would have a lower MSRP than the SL. Not a big gap, but something like 3-5%

Not sure about the others guys dealership, but my dealership also knew this and told me 5% gap around a year ago. All research also pointed to his. So no surprise.
