Quote: Bought it CPO from a Mercedes dealer. One owner, no title issues. I pay attention to the battery charge level but can’t say it has been an issue. I was gone for 8 days and the car started no problem. I have paid attention to posts here on the forum: I always double click the lock button and keep the keys in a faraday box (inexpensively available on Amazon, and I always know where my keys are!). I also think recent software updates have helped. The car is a blast to drive. I have had many compliments on the car and color.
Curious about the physical key discussion; doesn't the R232 SL have a UWB-based Digital Key? I haven't carried a physical key for a while and just use my iPhone/Apple Watch as a key and assume this would alleviate all double-lock/faraday box needs...

If you take the Key FOB and hold down the lock button and then press the unlock button twice quickly it will disable the key FOB - so no need for the faraday bag. To enable the FOB just press any button on the FOB.

If the issue is that the nearby fob signal keeps too much of the car awake, then the digital key doesn't resolve it. Every time you walk near the car with your phone, the door handles extend. The fob you can keep far enough away, so that the handles don't constantly extended if you get near it. Depends on where the car is in relation to your living spaces I suppose, but walking around the house near the garage could constantly cause the door handles to extend.

BTW, the fobs also go to sleep automatically if they don't sense motion for 2 minutes.

I just haven't checked on the MB Digital Key functionality in details. With BMW's you have an exclude Home function based on GPS location where the wake-up lock/unlock is disabled. This solves the issue of annoying lock/unlock of the car in the garage and the wake-up/battery issue overall. The car doesn't lock in the garage and only wakes up when you open door.

EDIT. Just checked and MB doesn't seem to have that feature. Am sure this will be a future add-on

Yeah, MB hasn't really thought this through yet.

Here is an update on mine, I do not keep it locked, but keys are in a faraday box. My car had a little over 9K on it and had already gone through 2 batteries and gone to one of my local MB dealers many times without fixing the issue. My dealer (who my friend of over 35 years was a manager at), who I had bought many cars from (the SL is MB # 72 #71 is one of the last S63 coupes ever made and parked next to it), kept it for 9 days and did every update possible a put in battery # 3. The car is not on a charger (on purpose to see if it has been actually fixed) and has gone as long a 16 days with being driven with no issues. I did get the car for less than half its sticker price and it is not a buyback, and still has well over a year of warranty left. These are great cars especially when you can get one with low miles and in like new condition. I have been involved with cars (racing, building, teaching, inventing) for almost 6 decades, and sometimes you just need to have the right people who are good at their jobs and committed to solving a problem, no matter what it takes. I had such a group at my dealer and now I have a great car without issues.

Riding the brakes?
Quote: The most important concern for carbon stack rotors, or even single stack is, you must NOT ride the brakes, when they are cold.
You should never ride the brakes on any car or rotor type.

I have had CCB on several cars, and if it's available as an option, I would always get it.
1. They weigh less
2. They stop like an arrestor hook
3. No dust
4. They don't wear out

This guy did a nice video on them:
