Buying Advice: MercedesBenz 450 SL 1973

I looked at this 450SL and it looked pretty solid besides the fact the front bumper is a little twisted as you can see from the picture. The seller is asking for 12 grand and claims the NADA Guide Value is $16,000 to $21,000. Is this unreasonable?

It's whatever the market will bare regarding the purchase price on a R107 generation SL. If it's in mint condition, a collector's piece, then $12K for a 450SL is quite reasonable.
However, it's true that the same model can be had for less. Trouble is, you also typically buying deferred maintenance with a cheaper buying price.
As for the "twisted bumper" Mercedes bumpers from the 70s through the 80s had an ad-hoc look about their "fit". This particularly the case with US-spec bumpers (pictured is Euro-spec).
The tall aftermarket AMG rims actually look nice.

To me, the whole front end of that car seems angled downward, as if a front-end accident was badly repaired. It's more than just the bumper. Take a look at the upper edge of side marker lights too. Check the angles in the side shots of my car at post 31, https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...er-cars-2.html
