Need part identified

My father has a 1980 280SL. He needs help identifying a part that he found. Appreciate the help

No hoax?? Father, who is not a car guy at all, bought this car from his sister years ago. Has sat in his garage for about ten years, finally got it running. Found this part and wants to know what it is.

OK...I guess the question would be WHERE was it found? It almost looks like some kind of specialized tool. Was it in the trunk or glove box? The old guys over on the R107 forum on Benzworld.org might be a place to check, too. I have to confess that I would be guessing as to what it is. Sorry.

Hard to guess with one picture and no measurements. How thick are the rounded ends?

Looks like a delux double bubble blower . I would say , not mercedes ,if it is, it would have a stamp on it..

Based on this one photo alone, I think it may be a home-made tool of some kind - judging by the welds and the lack of any stamping with either Mercedes-Benz or the star logo. A mystery.
