Hit from rear end while driving.

Hello,

Anyone could help me please with my issue.



When I drive my 1988 Mercedes R107 560Sl, I feel a hit in the rear of the car when I take my foot off the pedal and press it again quickly.

This issue always happens at low and high speeds.

I also feel the same hit when shifting from P to D or from D to R.


I felt the problem was with the rear axle, so I replaced it with another car I own, and the problem persists.

I also replaced the entire transmission, and the problem persists.


I've changed:

All shock absorbers and suspension.

Differential oil.

Center propeller shaft mount.

Propeller shaft linkage.

Engine mounts.



I hope someone has the same issue and knows what to do.

Sounds as if you've covered all the usual suspects. Does this vehicle have u-joints or cv joints on the propeller shaft, and were they replaced along with everything else that you changed out?

Does is shift smoothly in 2-3 up shifts and 3-2 downshifts?

Are all the vacuum modulators hooked up? Are the hoses intact, not holed or brittle?

Just trying to narrow it down to a certain component… This could be a rough shift or a torque converter lock up issue but you saying it comes from the back so that would typically mean something loose back there. Is your exhaust dangling loosely?

Reason I’m asking about vacuum hoses that the regulators aren’t hooked up it’ll shift like absolute crap. Does this occur when the transmission is shifting gears or just going off the gas and getting back on it?
