I'm interested in replacing the exhaust.
I was considering a "brand" but a friend sent me this. I was told that the company charges $1,650 for this thing. The picture are actually from their COMPANY SHOW CAR.
Are all tuner exhausts like this?

Special?? it looks like a piece of sh*t - mild steel with black paint, crappy welds and rust specks. For $1650 I'd expect a work of art in polished stainless. Titanium would be better. Sheesh, even Viper exhausts give you more for less money.

The Eisenmann for comparison - I think there are at least a couple SL55s on this site that have it and can chime in. I have their 'race' version on my CLK, and the sound is great.

Looks good will you post a pics of it on your car.

Exactly, Frisco - *that* is how the exhaust should be made. However, for $4100 I think I'll happily stay with the stocker.

ExploreWhat makes and exhaust (and intake for that matter) cost that much?
They are nothing but glass packs and tin cans with pipes.
With claims of 2hp or 10 hp, I don't think they really make power (other than the false impression of it because of the additional noise it makes). I am with treynor's philosophy.

The one for my car cost about $1k and comes with 2x83mm round tips, not ovals and is a so-so build quality. The ones they make for the E and SL with oval tips looks that look much better than the rounds, but 4k is definitely a bit much. Here's mine with a plate for when I meet up with Treynor on 280:

It looks like Cargraphic makes one for the SL for about $2k

And finally, if you want expensive and high quality, this non-benz Kreissieg exhaust with integrated bypass valves is really a looker: Link
