Problem with my SL55
I got my SL55 out of winter storage a few days ago and found that there is a warning on the dash reading 'Electric consumers offline'. I have seen this before and it usually goes away if I turn the car off and restart it. I drove the car home and the warning was still on. The car was also running pretty rough. I called my service guy at the dealership and he said I could hook up a trickle charger to the supply battery located in the trunk. So I did that and this morning the charger says my battery is fully charged but the warning is still on in the car. The car also died at a stoplight on me this AM. I absolutely HATE taking this car in to the dealership for service so I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found an at-home solution?? Or should I just take it in...

Others have had this iisue when the car is stored for more than a couple of weeks at a time. New secondary battery should solve the problem. The trickle charger should keep it from happening again.

Search this forum for a thread about the battery (I think it was "Consumer Battery Again"). Look for posts by BlueSL and JosanK (myself).
It would be a good idea to have a charging plug rigged up in the trunk and to get a smart charger (Mercedes sells an overpriced one, but it works). The rear battery (the consumer batter) goes flat in a hurry (maybe 10 - 14 days). You need to keep it charged. All kinds of bad things can happen if it goes flat.

Should have not told them that you had stored the battery.... you could have gotten a new one under warrenty.......

To think that MB puts the highest technology in their cars and they still haven't figured out a way to have this "trickle" charger built in the car. Then we can just all plug it in the wall before long storage. :p

Ohh thats great that it IS covered under warrenty... looking at the fleet of cars you have, paying for a battery wouldn't be a struggle for you......

Your absolutely right... my apologizes, if i have offended... i was just complimenting on ur fleet of vehicles.... i LOVE the gallardo... u should share some pictures of ur cars......
