Sweet - nice runs! That video pretty graphically illustrates the difference between 525 and 850 ft/lbs of torque

Hey Treynor!

What mods do you have on your 65? I'd like to get down to high 10s or 11-ish 1/4 mi.

I am thinking of ultralight wheels, exhaust and K&N filter elements (and maybe some thermal sheets for the intake) to get better times.

Right now, the only thing I have is the ECU upgrade which retails at full list for $1,295, and a set of 275/35-18 drag radials.

What do you think? 'think its possible?

The car's doing 7.4-ish consistent average on 1/8 mile. Since the strip is only 1/8 mile, then 1/4 mile is based on calculations.

I am told that it should equate to 11.5-ish at 1/4 mile.

My only mods are the RENNtech ECU upgrade & BFG DRs (same size as yours). I've run high 11.3s with this setup. I'd say the car has another 0.15 secs in it in cool weather, but it's not going to get out of the 11.2s without some serious help. Maybe bigger turbos...

I'm thinking I'm on the wrong froum. I am over from the C55 forum...
Haven't gone to the track yet...only been a couple of weeks... I drive a C55 with a renntech S/C, some other mods and NOS... CAR IS FAST.
As soon as I get to the track I will post my numbers...
Should be mid to low 11's for the 1/4 mile

Looks like that muscle car was able to hang with you better than the Viper. Either way it's impressive what a stock SL65 can really do

All this talk of 1/8 miles has got me going.

I fell for the other day in that other post about the person who was 'kicked' off the strip for going too fast. I am so used to reading about times for the quarter on the '03 Cobra forums, I automatically was in a '1/4' frame of reference. I kept thinking to myself WTF, these times are impossible for a 65 in the quarter, there's something a miss here. Now it all makes sense and I can calm down . As for whoever it was that got kicked off the track for going to fast, I know of plenty of '03 Cobras breaking in to the low 11's and mid 10's and nobody's complained about being kicked off the track for breaking into those time brackets.

Nevertheless well done to all those who have clocked some kick-*** runs in their 65's

The first run, the viper had a reaction time of 0.001....... WOW.

Isnt the reaction time limited to 0.500 secs? Anything under it triggers a foul start?

Standard tree, yes. Pro tree is .400 but these numbers are in reference to the last amber light going out. New systems base everything on the green coming on. So, a .001 is damn close to perfect! Red lights are now shown as negative numbers.

I'll be sending my sl65 to brabus north america. Mine arrives july 8th Keyes benz said that, lets hope it doesn't delay, they are taking in my cl65.

Then once I break in the sl65 I'll send it to brabus which they would have launched their 700 over horsepower upgrade that I was told by andreas.

hmmm I'm happy =) excited hell yeah!!! Freaking cl65 don't really have a sound to it, it's sorta quiet but I smoked every single car on the street so far none has beaten me yet. I raced a F430 I smoked it to over at olympic

Just food for thought... at the present modified horsepower (660hp), the torque is already at 825+ ft-lbs. AMG's engineers strongly advised that the MECHANICAL LIMIT of the transmission is 778ft-lbs of torque. Going over 700hp may introduce non-warranty repairs.

Even at the 665hp (825ft-lbs), traction is currently the biggest issue. More means more traction problems.

Just my 2 cents.

I saw a SL65 at my local dealership yesterday when I went in for a car wash. I think the sticker was $188K. That car looked soooo nice!
