Has anyone's dealer been able to spec out a car and get a build date?
If the UK SL 55s are coming in, how far can it be before US dealers get to spec out cars for build dates?

To my knowledge the SL55 is not even in the build computer, and probably will not be until 4Q02 (4th quarter 2002)...

I finally saw the first SL55 build spot show up on our production list (the report that tells us what cars are coming & what equipment they will have). The car will be built in the third decade of the month, but it did not say what month. This is at least a starting point for all of us waiting to see these beautiful machine.

2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
My dealer in Ohio has 2 VIP SL55 for delivery in August Silver with Ash, and Diamond Silver with Berry. He is going to call me as soon as they arrive. I have the first non VIP car coming, but he does not have allocation for any non VIP or normal SL55 allocation yet.

I know this dealer very well and it is not the dealers practice, but it is the practice of MBUSA. For example if a big fleet buyer for chrysler wants a sl55 or else they switch to GM, they get a VIP SL55 from MBUSA or DC

I saw an SL55 in MBUSA's lot in NJ yesterday. Next to it, a G55. Both had no plates on it. So they are in the country.
I have heard of 'VIP' cars.

Our first SL55 is scheduled for production in the second decade (10 day period) of August. If it is built by the end of August we should have it by the end of Sept.
As far as VIPs, there are MBUSA VIPs and there are dealership VIPs. This car has a customers name next to it and also the dealership owners initials. The first couple of newly released cars often go to the owners or there friends.
