Seriously, I do think driving a Ferrari in the city is a little weird, as far removed from their intended role as you can imagine and more likely to invite negative comment. If I lived in a city all the time, I would find it difficult to justify having one. On the other hand, if fine driving rural roads are just a few minutes away, it's the perfect playground to have and enjoy one.
I found the comparison in the July issue of Car between the SL500, 997 Cabriolet, and the 645cic interesting. Author states that his choice, if he spent his days stuck in the city, would be an SL55. I think it would be very difficult indeed not to be able to stretch the 55's legs regularly. What do you think?

But you see.... There is a problem. From a seasoned Ferrari Owner... He should know how things work and why they go for so high over MSRP. I think he's wrong on this one. Dealers wouldn't be able to demand these prices if people weren't willing to buy them. Ferrari always tries to push out as many cars as possible before their summer break in August. That is why you see more 430s at the moment. Still there aren not enough F 430's on the market to satisfy the demand of the public. I was offered $120k for my Spider just a few days ago (I said "No Thanks" after I had all the paper work done and ready to plunk it down on a DTM). There are a lot of 360 owners trying to sell their cars to get a F430 right now. A similar situation took place when the 360's came on the market back in "99" and there were a lot of 355's for sale but not as many as there are 360's for sale now. There are so many of them for sale. I think once the 360 Market settles down then the secondary market of the F430 will increase as those ex 360 owners will be eager to get one. Just my 2cents.

The bottom line is as follows.
Ferrari is capacity constrained.
There are more 430 buyers than there are 430's
Some dealers are charging over MSRP.
Some customers have other ways of compensating dealers.
Some are bending over and paying IMO way too much.
Some are buying Lambo's.
Why Ferrari doesn't raise the msrp. To the point the market will bear is quite beyond me besides the fact that the delear has to take a allocation regardless...
The same question can be asked of The Ford GT.

Not bad, in an "I think I've read this somewhere before" way.
