What is th best way to launch the 65 from a dig? I wanna do a 1/4 run, but not really sure how to handle this. ESP on or off. Revv at what levels.? Do I start with the traction on and then remove it. Should I use tiptronics? Just looking for the facts, only the facts.

Bentley Arnage Red Label
I would start with puting this in the SL65 AMG section instead of the SL500-SL600 section. I am sure people will chime in a little quicker.

DBERRY,
I cannot answer your questions, as I have not put this car down the track yet. But I am located in West Palm also and have been seriously thinking about bringing the 65 to Moroso. I'm sure you know that Wednesdays and Fridays are test and tune. My wife and I are going tonight to see about their cart track. She wants to race me!!
Let me know when you're going to go. We can meet up there and help each other out.

My best run was with ESP off but it takes some serious practice. That particular run was only .02 faster than my best with ESP on. Without drag radials getting into Dyno mode is really not an advantage.
My best runs were in S mode, starting in 1st, spin the tires to scrub them off, keep the rpm just above idle and squeeze the throttle on the last yellow.
Powerbraking the car only results in more wheelspin and more ESP intervention. Depending on the track prep, with ESP off, the car can certainly spin the tires all through 1st before it short shifts.
It is quite challenging to get the car off the line with minimal tire spin. Toom much and ESP slashes the power, not enough throttle and you just bog down.
Enjoy,
Schiznick

I was going tonight, but the weather and our friend Wilma ruined that. What about next Wednesday, if all fairs we'll? I heard that the tracks are not as crowded on Wednesday. I wanna run the car before I get the mods to track the differences.
I went to Renntech yesterday, and scheduled the mods for November with Bob Brady. He has a 1.3 million dollar racing Benz in there. If you can, stop by and see it. I can't remember the name of that damn car, but it is awesome. Some name with DTM in it.

Wow! What is that thing? It was partially covered when I saw it, but that looks like it. Give me some stats on it. I mentioned the SLR, and thats when he showed me the car.

Bob said that he had some engine troubles and that AMG asked them to look into the matter for them. 1.6 pennies, then I am in. Better yet, put me at 2.0. LOL
What about Next Wednesday at moroso, it we are still on the map?

Only 20 copies of the CLK-GTR were built in coupe form, 5 were roadsters. If that car is at RENNTech, it is probably the #4 car that is owned by a gentleman in Sarasota. It has been at various car shows around Florida and is seen on the street on occasion. The coupes were built in the late 90s.
I remember reading somewhere that service on these cars is supposed to be carried out every 2500 miles and must be returned to H.W.A. in Affalterbach for servicing....an expensive proposition for an oil change

I'll try to find out the exact name of the car.
It's on for Wednesday at moroso if the weather permits. I am going to try and arrive at about 5:00 to get there early.

Currently with the ECU/TCU upgrades its been found to run it best at about 1200 rpm's with ESP off if you are using street slicks.
With this setup we ran 11.59 @123mph in 96 degree weather. Now that its cooler i think it will definatly be below 11.5 plus we just added another 35hp and 80lb to the wheels so we are trying to hit 11.3
Any lower then 1200 it just dogged a bit, above 1200 it spun the tires... but you have to find whats best for your car and do a few runs

I'm still watching the weather closely. It seems that the hurricane might not hit until Monday... I don't know how that’s going to work out. But, if we give some people a little bit more notice I'm sure we can have at least 20 people

OK, Let's wait and see what Wilma does first.
I got a chance to stretch it out tonight. To bad the limiter worked "155". I made a run to the country side of Palm Beach County and pushed it to the limit. My 55 went to "165", and I stopped at that point. This engine seemed as if it hit a wall of frustration. It sounded like there was so much more to be unleashed. The ride was super smooth, and I let it coast instead of braking. It coasted quite a while before dropping back into the double digits. Can't wait for the Renntech mods and delimiter.

That is the car at Renntech. Bob said that there were only five made, and it is a Roadster. Wow. Just when you are trying to arrive, along comes a true dream car. Man, I wouldn't mind taking that baby in the quarter at 9.4, if I could sustain consciousness.
The lucky #4 crossed paths with me.
