Those are amazing gains in torque for the Renntech kits. That car must pull like a freaking banshee.

Although, it does appear that the stock RWHP #'s are a bit on the low side. I would think they should be around 500+ rwhp.

Sheesh, very nice! My airbox arrived in the mail today, and I'll be installing it this weekend and hitting the dragstrip again next weekend.

The reason the dyno #s aren't what you would expect is presumably because this is not a dynojet dyno. The relative gains look correct.

Cool

I was quoted a slightly higher price. Did you negotiate a discount.

Treynor, what price did you get?

Nice numbers INDEED!!! I'll have to recommend that airbox to my buddy, he has a CL65.

Treynor - Can't wait to see your 10 second timeslip.

Were you running drag radials when you achieved that 11.3 @ 127?

I've been on drag radials ever since my first trip to the 'strip. The grip is in a whole different league on DRs; my roll bar deploys at launch because the G forces are so high

Nice!!! How much of a difference in time do you think drag radials make? I'm I'm running 12.3 on street tires, should I expect high 11's on DR's?

It depends on your power level and how much trouble you're having with the launch, but you can count on 0.3 secs from drag radials, and maybe as much as 0.5

Have any of the '65 owners with the ECU mods had any issues with the transmission, as I know AMG limited the torque to 738lb.ft to protect this.

Just doing some basic research before I start modding my '65 !

Treynor,

Are you running the DR's just at the track or all the time?

No issues with the tranny on my car, after ~50 dragstip passes and 6000 street miles. And I only run DRs at the track; the car usually hooks up with stock tires in.. err, 3rd gear

no transmission problems, but with that much HP and Torque they recommended we send the car to Renntech to have the tranmission upgraded to give more support and smoother shift patterns

Thanks for the info guys.

Just one more quick question, as i'm in the UK, Renntech is not easy to get hold of, but Kleemann is easy to come by.

Has kleemann got an answer to the work that renntech do, or would it be worth me shipping my ECU off to renntech to get the upgrades done and give kleemann a miss?

Thanks in advance, Matt.

How does RennTech upgrade the transmission, via the tcu or do they physically rebuild it?

Honestly i checked out Kleemann and there upgrades havent show the proformance levels that Renntech has shown. Basically it comes down to what you want to do with your car. But i would recommend the Renntech package over all.

They do a complete rebuild of it. All the parts are upgraded to make it more able to handle the amount of Torque your putting to the wheels

What does the trans re-buld option cost? I though the only trans upgrade they were offering was the TCM upgrade that is included in the ECU package? Is the trans re-build a custon thing?

Since the ECU mod supposedly can't be seen by the dealer it doesn't seem to effect the factory warranty but I am sure the airbox is very different. Will something like this give the dealer an easy "out" on the factory warranty if something actually did happen?
