New Mercedes Supercar

Codenamed " P8 , there is rumours this could be in production within the next few years, and is set to sit between the SL55 and the SLR, and is set to cost close to £120,000, What do you think ?

Hello photoshop

Sounds good, price still too high for me to afford it at the moment, and if it looks like this, it could possibly be quite nice. But by the love of god, I hope MB gives it a manual or most people will never take it seriously as a sport car.

Has been cancelled at least twice. Major fallout between McLaren and Mercedes; Mercedes shopped for someone else to build it, McLaren said "no dice" to that (mostly their design?), etc., etc., etc. Who knows what really happened and whether it will ever be built -- but my understanding at this point is that the project is dead (until someone revives it again). Rumour is that someone has decided to "pump-up" the SLR instead/in the meantime...maybe as early as 2007.

'05 SL 55 Black/Black w/mods from Eurocharged/Kleemann/BuckheadImports
Thumbs up What if ?

2 possible things here to discuss:

1) What if they upgrade the SLR's looks and performance by doing a couple of things - Like improving the performance first far out of the reach of even a modded SL65 or Enzo by first taking the all-new 6.3 liter 32 Valve AMG V-8, adding four cylinders to make it a 48-Valve V-12, dropping in their two turbo's they've been working on, have very free flowing exhaust and catalyst systems in place, much wider tires, and what we'd have is an 850 horsepower, atleast 7.2 or 7.3 liter, twin-turbo V-12, 48-Valve DOHC rocket ship with atleast 1,000 lb/ft of torque. The Zero to 60 would drop from approximately 3.6 seconds to probably a little less than 3 seconds, the quarter would be in the 10's easily, maybe mid to low 10's?? This could be very possible and would put the SLR's performance potential far out of the reach of even the modded SL's, 996/997 TT's, Enzo, Carrera GT's, etc..

2) Continue with the "P8" project, which rumours speculate is still a possibility, especially what with AMG about to unveil a host of spectacularly powerful and high-tech engines within the next few years. Make sure it's all wheel drive, and put in that 6.9 liter 32 Valve twin-turbo AMG V-8 they're working on. With the more sport oriented exhaust systems in place, we could expect around 700 horsepower and 900 lb/ft of torque. Now add to it a very fast shifting AMG transmission as soon as they finalize the research on seriously strengthening the 7-speed, and we'll have a car that will smoke almost anything on the road. A car like this would also probably hit 60 in less than 3 seconds and easily hit 240 MPH without any drama. Any supposed P8 car would for sure be very lightweight and very aerodynamic.... adding to the car's agility and reflexes.

Either decision would be awesome for all Mercedes lovers worldwide

That is actually a photoshop of the SLR and the Chrysler ME-412, which has a quad-turbo'd AMG engine.

My guess is that either way, to handle that torque and reach the 0-60 times in the 2.6-2.8 range as you indicate would require AWD(or 425 series rear slicks!).
B!tchin Car either way!!!

I agree, and probably with a little Carerra GT thrown in. I have attached the original. Notice the shadow on the windshield-- clearly a photoshop.

It sure is, I missed the Carrera GT part, the doors and fenders are clearly that.

MB needs to just stop designing engines for about 6-12 months. Devote all of their resources to developing transmissions that can handle the power, then just retune the 65 engine (it was detuned so the tranny wouldnt blow up). MB can make all the engines they want, but all that power has to get to the ground and that is clearly not happening currently.

The ol' five-speed is bulletproof, and even being used by other makes now. The new seven-speed is supposedly a dream. I don't think that they're working on a new one, and why would they?
