Nothing is impossible. However, you will probably spend at least 3 grand in parts alone.

Well I dropped my car off at the dealer last night for a few minor issues so I asked them about the possibility. They said it would be a huge job and cost 10k plus.

Your dealer is probably right but you could probably get more joy out of installing Euro COMAND and TV.

If it were then it would be better to leave the windows open and the key in the car.

............not quite. Contrary to the implication in your post, aftermarket remote starts still require you to put your key in the ignition before you can put the car into gear and drive away. Although the engine is on, the vehicle is not operational without the key being physically inserted in the ignition. I have such a system in my 1992 300CE. It is the electronic codes in post MY 2000 Mb's prevent that prevent aftermarket remote starts from being technically possible even if one has the funds to do it.

..............Two different things. Yes keyless go is possible albeit expensive. Remote start is not possible.
