Eisenham exhuast sytem for 2003 SL 55

What advantages does an Eisenham system really do for a 2003 SL 55?

From what I understood form the salesman at the Frankfurt IAA, only sound, and optic. No other changes. IMO the sound is a-OK as it is.

Can you post a sound bite where it can be heard? What about removing both resonators?

I was not able to take one of the one when we installed it, but here is a video of the race exhaust on an SL500, it sounded pretty much just like that.

http://www.eisenhaus.com/install/sl55.wmv

Removing the resonators will make it sound just a bit deeper, but nothing like the eisenhaus.

If you are interested, let me know, last time i checked i had one race exhaust in stock for the SL55.

Sounds good on the SL500. Eisenhaus claims you get a 6-7% gain (30-35 hp, and have dyno graphs). I have heard here on MBW that it is only around 10-12 hp. I find 30 hp hard to believe though. Do you really get 30 hp?

I never personally dynoed one after the exhaust, but i cant tell you that 30HP will not be had from just the exhaust.

If you are buying this, it should be for the sound with a little extra power as an added bonus.

I doubted that claim too. No, I'm not looking into buying it, just clearing that up. I bet it sounds rediculous though

The Eisenmann salesperson in Germany explicitly told me that there would be no power increase. For that you should be looking at the headers.

What about removing the resonators? That would be alot less expensive and would you basically get the same sound or close?

Sprins, I didn't see your first post in the thread sorry.

About the resonators, I have been told by a member on the forum with 2004 E55 that the sound only changed the tone for the better, and it was not too much louder. Just the tone changed. And he could tell a difference in performance for the better after he removed his resonators. He does have other mods though (and he runs mid 11's in the low 120's).

You bairly hear a difference with removing the resonators. Only a bit of a deeper tone. After 1 day you will forget it was done. Also, you will get 0 HP gain.
