SL65 or Continental GT Conv?

Is the SL65 worth it's premium? I am debating on wether or not I should replace my SL55 with the new Continental GT Convertible.

Anyone have experience with Continental GT and a 65 AMG car? Thanks.

With a stable like that you should be looking at the SLR or Carrera GT, not the mundane SL65. And three Bentley's is probably two more than you should ever have anyway...

I would go for the Contintental, simply because it's not another Mercedes, when your inside; you feel like better and that is exactly what counts.

Carrera GT would be nice too, but it doesn't have the luxury feel which we find more of in the continental. The James Bond type Nav, the great wodden, leather interior... the great smoothe and silky ride which it offers, and the very essence of speed with little noise makes the Continental such a great car today. Better than most other 'Roadster'.

SL55 < CarreraGT < Continental GT < Continental GT Convertable.

Yes, I am looking at cars like the Carrera GT, SLR, etc. I had a Vanquish and a Gallardo, but sold them both at my fathers request.. I'm still planning on buying a sports car in the near future. I would just like something to replace the SL, since the SL isn't a sports car I was thinking the GT Conv. would offer the same ride?

You sold your Aston Martin and Lamborghini due to your Father's request. So they were unsafe or too much $$$ to keep up? How old are you?

I'd love to see a pic of all your cars lines up together.

It would indeed offer the same ride, it's just more comfortable.

Long story, but my mother didn't like me owning a sports car. Bad experiences. Here are a couple pictures, I think I've posted them a while back.

it all depends on what your looking for, having driven both. the gt is definetly more luxurious and more spacious in the inside. however, if your looking for performance, the sl65 dominates in that category. the gt does have 550hp but it weighs as much as my house. if you want to be different and have something a lot of people dont have then go with the gt, if not go with the benz

I test drove both the SL55 (not 65) and the Bentley Continental GT Coupe in the same week and it felt to me that the SL55 just had a more overall quick and sportier feeling. If you want luxury, class, prestige (seems like you already have that with the cars you drive), and more exlusivity compared to an SL, then go for the Bentley. However, I can imagine that the speed of the SL65 doesn't compare to the heavy Bentley.

I would go with the SL65, a friend of mine has the Continental GT, and the performance is great but not 65 great. But if your interest is comfort and interiors, then go for the Continental GT, the only car that I have ridden in that has matched the Contiental is my Maybach.

I have not driven any 65 vehicles, but we modified a Continental GT (wheels, suspension, GIAC, etc) and I must really say they are great cars. I will admit that I thought they were just "boulevard cruisers" but these babies move and have very flat and secure handling (well at least with a lowering module and plus sized forged wheels they do, LOL)

I would probably go with the Conti, not sure about the aesthetics of the vert though. Good luck

Yes, I agree. The GT seems not too far off from the SL55 perfomance wise. I've never driven the SL65, so I don't know how much different it is from the SL55.

More pics if anyones interested.

Richboy,

are you PRChris cause I could have sworn "richboy" posted in the Carerra GT thread, and you stated you lived in NYC, (but you posted cars with Il plates) I am a bit confused.

I totally hear you. My mother won't let me get the Veyron until I finish selling both my 120' yacht and Monaco town home. It's hard because I'm trying to get through AP Calculus and AP Physics this semester and I don't have time to deal with the brokers and such. Worse, I guess I'm going to have to go to my prom in something pedestrian like a SLR or F430. It's going to be slightly embarrassing but I guess I'll just swallow my pride.

~ Ian

PS: C'mon dude, NOBODY owns all those cars and I mean NOBODY.

Okay first of all, when did I ever say I LIVED in New York? Secondly, the car with the Illinois plate was bought at Bentley Gold Coast.

I think from this statement its pretty clear you "claim" to live in New York. Unless you claim that you are not PRChris?

Read all my posts if you'd like. Where do you get all this from? Who said anything about New York? I think you might be confused.
