There is a compression ratio difference in the engine. Yours is a 10:1, and the 55's is a 9:1. Not sure how much of an effect this difference will make on your engine though. I don't even know if it will work on your car, and if it does, I know it won't work right without the proper tune. You probobly should have saved up for the Kleeman.
Oh, how much did you spend on the supercharger?

When sutch things are undertaken, it is alwayes a nearly must, that you get the whole engine, so that you can move and pick parts as needed. The way you are trying too do it, is difficult and likely not to work out at the end.
Several things are involved. First you will need the pulley for the crank, and the matching belt. You will also need a belt tension unit as well. If you succed in getting the S/C fitted correct on the engine, you will need the ECU from the SL55, and all the matching sensors ( to make shure the ECU works correct ) including the vital manifold pressure sensor. Also the ECU is controlling the electromagnetic clutch fitted on the shaft of the S/C.
Dont forget the radiator and hoses for the watercooled Intercooler ( I/C ).
Did you get the electric throttle control as well ?
Is your SL fitted with a MAF sensor ? If so, it makes things a lot more easy, and there might be a more easy way out of this problem.

SLCHARGER, thanks for more insight. I knew this was a gamble and hope that most of what you addressed can be answered. I am sending anote to the guy i bought the SUpercharger from to see if i can get any of the other components.
Can you tell me what a MAF sensor is?

before you consider doing this, have you checked into the cost of a replacement engine for your car? If things aren't done right, you have a high chance of your engine not liking what it gets..
and one thing you have to realize, these cars are so computerized now, that even if you put and hook everything up, it's not like an american car.. one of the computers may reject the supercharger and it may just not run...
i'd personally unload the supercharger to a salvage yard... too risky, too expensive.. but gl if you go forward with it
I have a 1999 SL500 AMG SPort package and just bought an AMG supercharger off of a 2002 SL55 that crashed. I speculated that it will work on my engine. Can anybody tell me who could possibly install this?? Yes, I am cheap and not rich. I want a supercharger and can't afford to go out and just do a Kleemann.... (the supercharger did not come with the fuel rails or the belt.)
Please help if you can.[IMG]

Thanks everyone for cooments to date.. I'll have the supercharger by ups at the end of this week and will bring to my MB mechanic to get his thoughts of how big the project may be and if he is even willing to take it on....
