New upgrades... Wife thinks I am nuts!

Sorry, got a SL 500 2004, not the AMG. Got some pics of my upgrades to share. But, mostly want to get you guys opinion on the angle eye/halo light for the big Benz star in the front grill. Haven't done it yet... just want to see how what the other enthusiasts think!
Too many pics so I'll post a link to the thread in the SL 500 forum. Thanks for the opinions.

You should do what makes YOU happy.
Personally, I think it looks a little rice. It's too Fast & Furious for me, but I am sure some others would like it.
I'm in my early 30's, so a lot of things are not my cup of tea, but it would appeal to the younger crowd, or at least some of them.
At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is if you are happy with it.
It would definately be original.

Thanks! definitely doing what I want on there.. hence the word "customize" But really, what do you think of the halo effect in the front? That's like my only uncertain decision... I did have him put it on a different switch so I can turn it off if i want.. haha!

I think it is OK for a show car and you want to grab attention.
I think it cheapens the car and is not worth it, but like I said, that is original.

appreciate the comments! I do worry about comparisons to rice rockets. But, that halo is just for fun because my brother in law has been teasing me about puting a batman like spot light there and shine the heck out of the tri star... So, that was just for amusment and get a kick out his reaction when he sees that I did put some crazy stuff in there! As for show car, it may actually go to show for my tuner. he's invited to concourses all the time and he might take mine because he agrees with you that it's "original!" The heart of the car is still the engin. I am putting off the Renntech supercharger and Carlsson exhausts til a year or two... one to save money and two to try to not void my engin warranty until then.... Then, I'll have a really cool car! Right now, it's all decorations and show stuff.. for fun! The audio visual upgrades are good for trips to Vegas. Again, thanks for the input!

Sorry, too mutch Fast & Furious for me. I think it spoils the class of the car.

You know, I think you would have been better off starting with the 55, instead of adding all the 55 stuff on it. You are almost in the same price ball park, without the extra 150HP (which is the biggest reason to go with the 55).
Whatever you do, please don't put on Lambo doors like the other post.

yeah, I agree, would have saved lots of trouble (tail lights and brakes) if I had gotten the SL 55... but, at the time, getting the SL500 was a stretch on the income... saving money to get married and all! So, now, just putting money into this to make it fun... will eventually get to the engine and make it more powerful than the 55... Or will just get a new car like a DB 9, something different! You seem to have a nice stable. That GT is awsome! again, comps on the silver graphite, If I had a 55, would definitely go for that or aluminum trim... burl walnut just does not cut it!

Yup. The wood is getting played out. It looked great in my CL55, but in my SL, just like my 03 SL55 that I had before, it goes tired on my eyes.
The Carbon is so much better and has a nicer contrast.
I understand about getting the 500. You never know what you will end up doing to a car till after you get it.
My 55 will be in the mid 600 HP range before the year is out. Anyone out there needing the OEM wood interior trim, let me know.

Reynaldo, the Angel eye is getting wired as we speak! But the eye (light) part is on order... need to get a bigger size one to fit the star!
And blk... nice, 600hp on the 55! Impressive. I thin the tuner said that the most I can get out of my SL 500 is around the hight 400hp, closer to a stock SL55... That's plenty of power for So Cal traffic! haha! Remember to share the photos when you get it done!
