I couldn't decide either, so I got both. Well, almost - that's a '55, not a '65.

What are your thoughts on the cars since you have both?

haters crazy
If you want to be flashy get the Gallardo. If you want to be classy get the SL65. I am considering picking up a SL600 or a 996TT in the near future.

If I could only have one, it would be the SL55. The R230 is a very, very nice car. The Gallardo is just too impractical. No trunk, no spare tire, no jack, no cruise control, no self-dimming rear view mirrors, horrible blind spots. etc, etc. But it wouldn't be a Lamborghini if it were otherwise.

The truth is the '55 has been gathering some dust since the G joined the stable. It's damn fun to drive and I can't get this stupid smile off my face when doing so. I miss the low-end torque of the AMG V8 when pulling away from a stop. The Lambo V10 doesn't really come alive until 3K RPM and, with the AWD system, you have to go easy on the clutch in 1st gear. So it's definitely not a drag car. But it more than makes up for this on the twisties. It's loud, fast, and nimble - connecting you with the car and the road in a way that makes the SL seem rather numb.

I've got a Gallardo SE and drive it several times a week, but it isn't really a get-in-and-go kind of car. It attracts a LOT of attention and you need to take care where you leave it. It isn't as easy to drive as an SL, it rides hard and really doesn't feel happy until you leave the city limits. But I love it all the same.....

I'd choose a black SL65 over the Gallardo. 997TT is totally amazing though so if you pick the Turbo or AMG you'll have some fun kills on Gallardo's and 430s. (unless you like the twisties in which case the 65 isn't quite the same league as those 3)

Go for the 996TT. I sold mine at the start of the year and there isn't a day that goes by I don't miss it. Great everyday car, great car to take out for the hell of it.
To the guy who has the 55 and Gallardo; just saw pic at the top. Nice stable!
