F-Word = 07 Aftermarket Rims

It is official.

The aftermarket rims I bought for the 07 SL will not work.

Weeks of going back and forth...

It's the new Tire Pressure Sensor.

So, rims were sent back (factory, florida)to have the extra holes drilled for the sensors.
Then, the sensors wouldn't seat where they drilled the holes.
Finally... a special grommet...
We are putting on the last rim, pass. front....
the other 3 are on now... barely, and I mean barely clearing everything (tire sensors).

Put the last one on... give it a little spin... SNAP
just happens to be an extra sensor on the inside of that wheel and the tire sensor has just snapped it off.

F-ck

$500 later my car is repaired and my stock rims are back on the car.

I called RENNteck, told them my story. Because I want to order the 10 spoke mono's... and I want them to work

RENNtech is in the process RIGHT NOW of engineering something that will work with their rims.

Updates to follow.

Holy crap!
That brings new meaning to "drive it home and leave it alone". I plan on getting new wheels once my present P zeros are shot. Glad your keeping us posted.

Seems nobody knows.. the 07 sensor is so new.. they haven't seen it, or know their is a difference.
Even the "tire guru" guy here at FJMB told me they didn't know their was a diff.

they all act like it's business as usual, but it's NOT.

dealers say anything to sell you the car. i still think it's renntech's responsibility to know about the tire sensors for the new MBs. i mean, that's what they specialize in right?! i know what it feels like when you get aftermarket stuff and they don't fit or work. it's the most frustrating feeling cuz you get all hyped up to get it all on your car and then it doesn't work. biggest let down not to mention the waste of time and money. i hope renntech fixes the problem fast so you can post up pix of your new shoes! i liked your stock wheels too but i guess your car deserves some new rims. go get'em pro golfer!

Enterprise rent-a-car!!!
no you cannot disable the TPC(tire pressure control), you need one piece rims, all the aftermarket companys make them to at least 20". the sensors will fit just fine and work as intended.
I have installed several sets on 07 S-class and SL-class cars with no problems.
Just be aware that at the present time multi-piece wheels will not accept the new sensors.
Good luck

FWIW, I have the TPC disabled in my 2004 SL600. If I were you titleist, I'd see if the '07s can have that done as well. Most dealers are hesitant to do so, but you may be able to slip a tech a $50 to have him do it. I do not know if the '07s have updated ECU versions which may not allow for it, I know on my '04 it was easy.
