l would like to get the SL 65 wheels (anthracite twin spoke) on a new 07 55. Dealer says MB won't build it like that. Sales guy is checking to see if he can do a swap. How much if anything should this cost me as an extra? I think the anthracite wheels are nicer looking than the chrome twin spokes. Thanks.

In my order at a local dealer, I was told that it would cost me an extra $6,500 to get the chrome wheels! Not even the anthracite wheels from the SL65! Got hold of someone from MBUSA who confirmed that the only other way you could get the chrome twin-spoke wheels is to order the 030 Performance Package. Let me know if you find out otherwise. I still have time before my build-date to finalize my order...

For the 65 wheels: Buy them from someone who gets rid of them for 20's......For chroming: DO THAT AFTER MARKET....the dealer is taking you for a ride IMO.

Watch ebay. I bought 07 SL65 wheels and tires with 25 miles on them that the owner was replacing with aftermarket. Paid $4500 including shipping.

The 030 pp gets you the twin spoke wheels and they're nice but they look rather plain compared to the anthracite twin spokes found on the 65.
From the prices in this thread I'm starting to doubt my dealer will do an even swap for me, which is where I started with the salesman. He was probably just saying that to get my order going.

What do the anthracite twin spoked wheels from 65 look like? Do they look like the 030 PP wheels but they are a very dark gray?

The so called anthracite wheels on the SL65 appear to be structurally identical to the 030 pp wheels on the 55, except they are greyish, what I would call an anodized look. I compared the two side by side on the two vehicles at the dealer. The sales guy now says it's $6000 more for these babies but he's willing to split the difference and I get to sell the originals.

The centers are just painted the dark grey color. If you can find the standard 030 wheels, get the centers painted.
