Widest Tire On Stock SL65 rim

Was wondering what the widest tire that will fit a stock 65 rim. The stock tire on the rear is 285. Can a 295 fit without rubbing?

If I wanted to go with 305 or 315 in the rear, would I have to upgrade to a 20" rim?

I know of a 65 with a 20'' rim that still had 285's on the back. It gets really tight with the bolt on the suspension, I don't know how much bigger you could go over 285...hopefully someone can add a little more specifics than that

Good topic, I am in the process of finding out. I think a 295 would be all that the rim is good for. It is only a 9.5 wide so you can add more tire if you could find it for starters but then the rim width does not do the tire justice. We are thinking of adding the p zero corsa which is a sticky tire from what I hear to help with the limited width. I know an 11 inch wide rim will fit but you will most likely max out at a 305/25/20. I have done alot of research and the problem is the tires get way taller then factory as we go wider and the sizes that would work dont exist and then the problem of the 9.5 wide factory rim. I will most likey upgrade to a 20 inch rim with a 11 on the rear and a 305.

I am curious too. I just bought a set of Lowenharts, 20x9 front and 20x11 rear. I have heard some people have ran these with 305's.....but I would like a definitive answer.

305/25/20 would be the widest in the rear.

10.5 inch rears

11 inch rears in a 20 inch are too wide. Maximum is 10.5 on the rears with a 305/25/20

Modulare wheels

I used Modulare forged wheels 20x10.5 in the rear. Looks great but you definitely should NOT go wider than 10.5 and a 305 tire.
