SL65 VS SLR video....how did I miss this??
Been on YouTube for 4 months. I did a search on the forum and could not find it so here ya go.
Video quality really sucks, but what was really shocking to watch is the mighty SLR gets owned on the top end. Can't quite hear, but think the SLR says it was over 300kmh. You think he came up against the limiter or something??????
Sorry it's old, but perhaps someone else hasn't seen er.

Doood!!! thats all over the internet! Its pretty old too older than 4 month for sure.... Well I think sl65 is just as fast up to 300 km/h and this particular one is moded maybe? But thats for sure one hell of a 12cyl engine right there!!!

As I see it the 65 got the jump....the SLR reeled him in going thru top of 2nd, passed him convincingly thru all of third, and early 4th gear before it appeared he hit some sort of speed limiter. All in all, a respectable run up to 170'ish for the SLR!!!

Actually, this is my analysis.
The SLR doesn't seem to ease off at the end, if you listen to the engine tone of the SLR there doesn't seem to be any let-off, its hits 5th gear and is accelerating. The SLR engine has to fight a lot of drag, as the body is not as aerodynamic as the SL's and also the rear spoiler creates a lot of drag. Seeing as how 5th gear is the longest and the immense drag that is generated at higher speeds, the SLR engine seems to be making a continous "drone" noise which doesn't seem to change pitch at all, indicating that it is still accelerating, albeit slowly.
The SL65 has a much lower aerodynamic coefficient and at higher speeds above 150mph, the acceleration is tremendous. The SL65 actually puts more torque to the wheels at its peak power point than the SLR; the SLR's lower weight is to its advantage. Seeing as how the SL65 does 0-186mph in 31.9 seconds and tops out at 210mph (AMS data, search for another thread in this forum under my name) and the SLR does that in around 33-34, with a top speed of around 206mph, its quite possible that at higher speeds, the SL65 is indeed faster than the SLR.

I fully respect the Sl65. Hell, I would want to own one, perhaps more than the SLR for obvious reasons (please ask if not so obvious). But there are much less expensive cars that will toast the SLR on a straight line. Perhaps not stock, but still.
