Thumbs up

Nice wheels, both sets of wheels suit your SL very well, though I like the winter ones a bit more.

Looking at the pictures, I don't think you need any drop. Car looks just fine as it is.

Thanks! About the drop, I won't do it as I'm too worried about undercarriage issues. I've had my share of ABC strut issues.

The car is still a bit high from being up on the bridge @ the tyre place. I reckon it'll lower 1 cm or so during a serious cruise.

The winterwheels are a bit fresher. These wheels are a bit more brutal.

What tires (make & size), are you running on the Summer setup?

Best,

It looks like the paddles are just attatched to the regular buttons......is that the case?

No. The whole interior mechanism of the shifter knobs has been replaced. Feels much more solid.

Do you know if AMG sells the paddles as a kit?

AFAIK it's not on the AMG Manufaktur price list. But I'm sure that if you want them installed on their own (without Speedshift plus) that they'll install it. Wether they will send out a kit I don't know. For that I'd really suggest contacting the AMG sales dept. by phone. I've encountered them to be very helpfull where possible. Or you might contact Steve, of MBenzNL fame, perhaps he can arrange a buy if demand is enough.

Just a thought: When you consider lowering your car, take a look at it when it is driving at a considerable speed. Here we have myself in a car without lowering module when driving with ABC doing it's thing.

What does the lowering module do to your warranty?

No tint. 100% stock. Must be the pictures or the afterwards changed contrast of the pictures.

Good question. That is one of the reasons I didn't go with a lowering module. I've had my share of ABC problems (4 struts replaced) so I'm not taking any chances.

That's why I asked, I've had 4 now replaced the rears were finished yesterday. To much money if I was paying and it wasn't covered under warranty. I agree it looks a little nicer but not for the $$$ in potential out of pocket expense. JMHO But I'm not rich like some of you guys

THE BIGGER THE RIMS THE BETTER THE LOOK AND LESS LOWERING .

20 inch or go home .... u save urself 1 inch of lowering , less of a gap when STOCK HEIGHT and no problems when lowering to a 20 inch wheel .

everyone that i know that put on 19inch wheels and lowerd their SLz had problems with struts in the long run .

everyone i know with 20 inch never had a problem with their suspension .

believe it or not .....

if u like the AMG rim look .... well now they have them in 20inch .

You ever have a problem finding someone to fix a flat on a 20 inch wheel?? I know locally one guy that could not find anyone that wanted to fix his for fear of damaging his rim. I guess it is very hard to dismount and mount those skinny tires on the 20's.

The car actually lowers itself at speed. A client of mine and I were out on the highway running side by side and his car looked lower. When we stopped, I brought it up to him, and he said that mine looked lower as well. We swapped cars and sure enough, they squat down at speed. Of course when parked they look like they are on stilts!
