Renntech Question
I recently sold my 911 Turbo Cab to get my hands on a Black Sl65 Amg. I have the stage 3 Renntech parts on order including the new exhaust and it was suggested to me by Renntech to get the stock toe links changed out with theirs to improve traction. I have read about and listened to what Renntech says about them, but I would like someone who actually has the upgrade to offer some insight. Does anyone have this upgrade done on their SL65? Is this upgrade worth it? Is ride quality affected? Thanks in advance.

Hey Adam, do you have any personal experience with the toe link upgrade. Like maybe a before and after type of story? I am interested in as much information as possible about it. Thanks.

Personally, i think the money is better spent on the Renntech Intercooler pump. However, I have no personal horror stories on the toe link and I heard couple of my local clients said that its a good addition to the current devilish power they have!
PS: You got Stage 3? You mean with the larger tbs?

I believe I am getting that intercooler upgrade already with the Stage 3. As it was explained to me I am getting the Engine and Transmission ECU re-flash, the carbon fiber airbox and engine cover, the intercooler system upgrade, and the new Renntech exhaust mufflers. I have the stage 1 upgrade on my SL600 as well as the 20 inch Renntech wheels and rear deck spoiler, but I bought the car after the upgrades were already done by the previous owner, so I am unsure if he had the toe links done or not.

I think this will help you understand more of it.
RENNtech now offers an upgrade to the Achilles heel of the E, CLS and SL rear suspension system. The rear suspension of these cars is subject to extreme loads due to enormous torque that the current generation engines produce. Under hard acceleration these loads result in deformation of the toe link’s rubber bushings. This translates to a vagueness and loss of straight line stability in the rear of the car. The effect is greatly diminished by the RENNtech rear toe link. The link utilizes billet CNC brackets, chro-molly steel links, and sealed spherical Heim joints. This ultra rigid connection controls rear wheel toe precisely and improves handling in all situations. The kit includes assembled toe links and all necessary installation hardware.

When you build more power, and especially if you add traction, the all that power needs to be distributed from the pumpkin out. The drivetrain literally flexes under that strain. The toe links help supprot the drivetrain and keep the flex under control. You should feel no difference, hopefully as that is the point. Not doing it will have wear and tear on the current setup and your weak link will finally give way under a hard acceleration moment which is not ideal.

Do you have some upgrades done to your E55? You can get the color on the G spyder, it's a $6000 paint upgrade option to get it. I have seen a few lime green spyders floating around for sale over the last couple of months, they are rare though. It's by far the best color, and I get nothing but tons of compliments on the color everytime I take it out.

A lot depends on options. I havent seen any spyders for close to 200k, they are all like 220k plus. My coupe was pretty heavily optioned out with a 210k MSRP. I bought it new and got 10k off sticker. Right now, I doubt you would find a 2006+ coupe (very low miles) with the same color and options for less than like 185k. Right now for a spyder with same color and options, I would say you are looking at 240k+

Dont worry they will come down in price in due time. Until then you can smoke just about everyone in your unsuspecting E55 Renntech. What kind of power are you getting now with it?
