V12 Twin Turbo Stand Alone Computer Help!

I'm putting a twin turbo V12 into an SLK and looking for some assistance, either with obtaining a stand alone ECU or modifying the stock computers to run in the SLK. Anyone out there with this kind of experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated! (I will be mating the TTV12 to the New Tremec T6060 six speed.)

Thanks!

The TT V12 should have an ECU that comes with it. Otherwise you will need to get an ECU for that particular engine and have it vin-coded then tuned. You could grab a standalone ECU but you will loose drivability as the aftermarket ECU will not and can not be tuned for some of the functions programmed in an OEM ECU.

Please feel free to PM me with any specific questions you may have.. I'll be glad to help.

Aren't you going to have to set off a bomb under the hood to make room for the engine?

You have two options:

1. Get stock ECU to work without it looking for the inputs from Transmission Control Unit (TCU). You will need someone with a lot of knowledge about it and there are very few people in US or even in Germany with proper knowledge.

2. Second option is to adapt an aftermarket ECU (Motec, AME, EFI etc.) to work. That will require creating a whole new harness and writing new fuel and ignition maps from scratch.

Either way will require cubic dollars and time.... Lots of time.

Good Luck!!!!

20+ to list......
Sounds like a lot of work ahead. If I'm ever doing it to one of my own, I will probably get A: 6.5 TT Engine W/ 5 Spd Auto, or B: Pagani Zonda's setup, which is an AMG 7.3L V12 with 6 Speed. Those 2 ways are the sure fire ways to get power for the least amount of headache.

Which way to go depends on whether I can find someone who can reprogram the stock ECU (which I have) or can do the MOTEC programming. As the SLK is much lighter than any other V12 Merc the programming would be a bit different. Goal for max hp not max torque. Run through free flow cats, raising boost and max RPM, etc. Thankfully the motor does not have complex variable cams or direct injection making the programming much simpler.

Has nobody used one of these ina stand alone situation: Kit car, race car, etc?

Again, thanks in advance for your help.
