It was kind of a gift from Mom to me to get me through my loss of her and something to remember her by.Enjoy you new ride and never forget your Mother and Father!
MichaelThanks again and "Carpe Diem"!
among the lessons i learned, one in particular remains salient: life is short, and sometimes shorter than imagined.
while that's not the basis for a license permitting me to indulge my every whim, it is the axiom by which i live.
welcome to club.
I so appreciate your sharing one of the important lessons that you learned. My Mom and Dad's life was much shorter than I truly imagined. My Mom and Dad worried that I worked too hard and did not play enough. For me, to indulge my every whim would not be in honoring their spirit. They encouraged me to reward myself with something nice that I would enjoy and make me forget about work. I am not sure if an SL55 was what they were thinking, but I have taken their advice.
Thanks again and "Carpe Diem"!

This is my first post, but I have lurked for awhile. So please forgive me if I am not as up on Mercedes as the rest are. But I am looking forward to learning from you all.
I purchased my Dream Car yesterday. A 2006 Black SL55 w/4965 miles on it. Had to take it home in the rain yesterday, but nevertheless I am in love with it. Lost my Dad 4 months ago, and had to bury my mom last week, both pretty young. So I am determined to live my life everyday. Life is short, so I am choosing to seize the day. Once the weather is nice and I figure out how to post pictures, I will post some.
Have a wonderful day, and "Carpe Diem"!

Sorry about your loss... I got my 2007 SLK in Oct 2006, and I lost my dad in Jan 2007. At least he got to hear about my new car and see the pics. (He was halfway around the world, and his next to trip to the US was supposed to be in 2007, so he never saw the car in person !)
I hope to have my mom around for a long time to come so that she can ride in my SLK and any future cars that I get...
CLK554,
sorry about your parents, unfortunately it is the deal that we make when we are born to this life.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my parents in what was a blink of an eye to me. Honor your parents while they live. It will leave you with great memories! Do take your mom for a ride. My mom once rode with me in my clk55 cab(prior to the sl). I was driving around 90 mph and my mom was so amused that she fell asleep.

I tell everyone, my car is not like the postman! She does not see rain, hail, sleet or snow. Only the daily driver see that.

He has been gone for awhile now. I still miss him much.
He used to have a 67 mustang with a 302 he thought was fast.
God he would love a top down day like today in the SL55.
Everyone enjoy your Memorial Day !!!!
