New SL55 Purchase
Whats up everyone, my name is Eyzer, and i'm from Michigan. This is my first post on this forum but I have been browsing for a little bit, I have been a member at clublexus for a few years.
Anyways lets get to the point, I just purchased an 03 SL55 with 33,000 Miles, its Desert Silver with charcoal interior. The only problem is that the warranty has expired. I was looking at a 2004 with around 20,000 with warranty, but I chose this because it was loaded with the following Renntech options...
Carbon Fibre Intake
Performance Package 1 : ECU And BOOST KIT
Stainless Steel Headers
ABC Sport Unit : Electric Adjustable Height Controller
Air/Fuel Ratio,Boost (Vacuum), Exhaust Gas Temp : Mapping/Grapping Engine Management Tuning
Also has upgraded nav. and sound...
Eclipse AVN-5495
Sirius Satellite Radio Tuner
Morel Elate 6 (6.5 2 way components)
2- Boston Acoustics mono Amps
JL Audio 8" w3v2
I hope I made a good choice, The Renntech and audio was added at 19,000 miles. I will post pictures when I take delivery of the car.

As for as any ?'s... I have 1 now, How much HP/TQ should I be getting with these mods. I asked the dealer, and they did not know, all they have are the receipts for the work that is done to the car, so I guess they don't have the dyno sheets.

Whats up everyone, I took delivery of the SL yesterday, all I have to say is HOLY SHHHH this thing is a monster!! I honestly didn't expect this much power. I've driven a 500 and it is nothing compared to this, I really have to adapt to driving this car. Coming from a Lex. GS400 its a totally different ball game. I will update you guys some more later on, its 67 outside today, gotta go have a little more fun.

It is indeed gorgeous in Detroit today! Before month's end, I am looking to trade my sedan for an SL roadster. No point in having a 4-door (S 600), when I rarely have more than one person with me at any time. I would like to get the same engine, but I am attracted by the fiesty nature of the AMG's. The 65 is too expensive for my taste as yet (for the value i'd be getting, anyway). The 55 is a model I have heard pitched around as the best SL, but it would still be a bit of a loss in power compared to the S600, I would tend to think. I have never driven a 55 before, ridden in one. Never driven a 65. Oh well, I want an SL sooo bad!
By the way, I would be getting a used model, not a brand new one. Looking to spend in the neighborhood of 65-70K.

Ferri, I wound up driving about 60 miles with the top down today and it was awesome! Simply marvelous.
If you're a fan of the V12s you should check out both the R230 SL600 and the SL55. The SL600 has the same engine as your current S600 but in the SL car.
I personally prefer the SL55 but you'll find devoted fans on both sides of the argument. There's really no right and wrong...just whatever suits an individual best.
Not sure about prices, though.

What I am about to say is in no way meant to demean/downgrade at all,
Their is a consideration which should be thought out before purchasing ANY Twin-Turbo car...........albiet a SL65 or a TT-Vette...........
Maintenance costs are a lot.........if you are rich, no matter........if you are "confortable", stay with a single Supercharger or Turbo.........
Much less prone to drag yer wallet down to keep in "Tip-Top" Condition.....................Twins are difficult to keep synchronized, even for a master mechanic.....
BUT, if money is not an issue, the Twin-Turbo is by far the most fun you can have on the Hi-Way............(short of outrunning the Cops)......
And the right sized Single Turbo will do the same thing......just a bit more lag.
