Vadim,vrus, Etc 65 Intake

Ok guys I have a question on the 65 intake. I have taken off the airboxes and the front end to see if there is room for a new intake design. I dont see any room for filters anywhere upfront. I did notice two flaps behind the grille about 4 inches infront of where the airtubes connect to the openings to get air. I wonder if removing these would get more air to flow? The way they sit now the air most go around these and back to the air tubes. If they were removed the air would flow straight to the air tubes? Any info would help thanks guys.

I did this on my E55 as has most everyone on the E55 section. Ours are hinged though,so I just bent it back.

I haven't had any problems that I'm aware of with mine re rain. Debris either but that would be caught by the filter anyway. I don't see an obvious hinge on the SL65, so you might have to cut them on the bottom and swing to side. Although in the pics they almost look like metal...

The flaps are plastic and can be simply cut with razor blade.

BiTurbo call me, we will chat.

I don't think you need to cut it, just remove the two plastic push clips (That's way I did on my 01' CL 55)

Take a look at the 07 Z06s. They have a giant size oval (16" x 6") k&n type air filter dangling from a rubber intake tube from the front of the supercharger into the front the radiator. The housing for the filter just may work. I was looking at it for my CLS55. Keep in mind, you must keep the air intake infront of the radiator due to temp concerns.
