SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Bulbs That Match Xenons!
I want to match the color of my High Beam H7, and 9600 Fogs to my Bi-Xenon's.
I have spent $500 on Halogen bulbs with no luck!
The closest I have come are MTEC Super Whites that are supposed to be 4,350k. These are still Too Blue. I am now considering spending another $150 on PIAA Xtreme White Plus Bulbs that are 4,000k.
Now I have 4,000 Sylania Ultra Silverstars in my Toyota... But next to the SL they are stone white... There can't be that much difference between 4,350, and 4,000k. I'm banking that the 4,000k of the PIAA's will be bluer than the 4,000k of the sylvania's...
Has anyone done this?!? Or am I the only one that cares?
Kev,
It's funny you should post with these... I had just ordered them for the High Beam H7, and the 9600 fog lights... But from the looks of the picture these don't match either... They look too white, so should I even bother opening up the package? I give up... The MTEC 4,350 are waaay too blue, and the 4,000k Piaa's are too white...
Who's to say that the claimed color temps are even accurate between manufacturers... My 4k Sylvania Utra's in my Toyota I knew were too white... But was banking on the Piaa's being bluer...
I see you the got the Piaa 194 bulbs for the city lights... I got those too.
I guess I'm beat, but I hate to give in...
Thanks,

If anyone is interested, after spending $600 on bulbs Kev is right, I had already ordered them, and they are a dead ringer for the Bi-Xenons in the H7 highbeam position... None other than PIAA Xtreme White Plus @ 4,000k.
In the 9006 foglight position they are almost perfect, but perhaps could be a little more blue (slightly). I have ordered the PIAA Intense Whites @ 4,100k so see if they are perfect in the foglight postion. I also have the 16172 PIAA bulbs in the City lights for parking, and they are a little too blue.. I have the 16169, Platinum White, and 16168 194 bulbs on order also... I suspect one of these 2 will be perfect in the Parking Light position... If any one wants to know the results hit me up. It really makes a big difference in the appearence of the car when you get them right.

Right now I have the PIAA 19172... But they are too blue.
I have the 19169 Platinum White's coming and the 19168's too... One of those should do it... I'll let you know.

After spending almost $700 to date... The closest thing I have found are the PIAA Extreme White Plus's H7 for highbeam And 9006 for Fog.
On The H7's They are very close In the 9006 fog light position they could maybe be a little more blue... I have just got the PIAA Intense white @4,100k for the 9006's, but have yet to try them. The color of the bulb is somewhat purple... so I have reservations.
In the Parking lights the best thing I have found are PIAA 19169 Platinum whites... They are a little too blue... Am waiting for 19168 PIAA's which are discontinued... They look to be a little lighter.
The Sylvania Stealth 1156 turn signal bulbs... which show blue but light yellow look great too!

The PIAA exteme white plus works well on my car, that had HID's a color temp of approximately 4,300k

If you are interested, let me know if you would like to try one of our HID FogLight kits. these will not only give the HID appearance, but also performance, as they are a real HID kit.
Yes I've look at those thanks... But they throw the warning light in the dash because of the low voltage they draw the car thinks the bulbs are out.
I know you can put a resister in line... But that is too complicated, and HOAKY.
I'm pretty happy with the PIAA they seem to do the job,
Thanks!

Actually, our new setup hasnt thrown a code in any of the W211 E55's and the one SL55 that we did here.
I'm glad to hear that you finally found a solution.
All the HID kits I have seen require splicing wires and have bulky external resisters.
And are they the exact Color temperature of the Mercedes SL class Xenons?
Do you have Pictures of the kit parts?
What is the pricing,
Thanks,
