bose systems, are not the best car systems, even though car manufacturers and some car buyers seem to think so. i am an audio engineer so I am pretty familiar with frequence responses and frequencey changes depending on decibel levels. and although everyone does have their own taste depending on the type of music they like, personally I find Harmon Kardon systems to be far superior the bose. The best factory system I ever heard in a car was the original Harmon Kardon Logic 7 system in the first redesigned BMW 745 that came out, it even had a digital graphic equalizer. Oh and by the way, the 2007 SL has speakers in the rear don't know about earlier models though.

There are no tweeters in the car...the 3" and 5.25" handles mids and highs...We used a Focal tweeters in the A pillars...We kept the center channel speaker stock...we just powered it with A LOT more power (3rd JL amp dedicated to center channel)...
Midrange (Right is 3" stock / Left is 5.25" Focal)
Midbass (Right is stock 6.25" / Right is 6.25" Focal)
What they look like in the doors...Stock first then Focals second...
Bose subwoofer enclosure (not sure if there is 8' or 6.5" in there)...
What replaced above subwoofer enclosure...JLTW5
