That is sound advise about the LP640, I've never gone into the super exotic territory before, it's a bit scary, the maintaince, service, insurance, and cost of ownership will be way more than what I'm use to. It is like going from my first car a Honda Civic Si Hatch Back to the SL65 TODAY. I think the new 3 year warranty from Lamborghini might calm some fears, and maybe I'll wait till the end of 2008 to see what the new model would be like.
Thanks for your input Jeff

For a semi daily exotic that you won't get burned in I would say make some calls and track down a 430 spider or find a wild color Gallardo spider. If its a serious exotic you want, the 599 is still way over msrp, the LP to me is a way over priced murci and that leaves a couple year old Murci or an SLR or a Carrera GT. I am still toying with the SLR idea because I love the drivability of the car and the performance is up there with almost anything out right now and with a few tweaks from renntech it will be bad ***. I think if bought right the depreciation won't kill you like the LP so to me the SLR is the way to go.

What about a SLR CONVERTIBLE
it's got lamborghini like doors

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I thought I like the 599's look when it first came out in the magazines, but when I saw it @ the WYNN Las Vegas I did not like it as much as the the LP640. The 599 is also 200k over msrp that makes it a 550k car, I could keep the sl65 and buy a lp640 for the 599's money.
430 spyder is very very nice, I would buy it if it was 265K but it's 330k just a little more puts me in a semi new lp640. when you park a f430 spyder next to a Murci I think the murci steals all the glory. As for the g-spyder, for the money I'm gonna spend, I want the top of the line Lambo.
Thanks for your kind wishes and your suggestions, it's much appreciated. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome.
By the way I wanted a white E55 or E63 and I might still trade for one, Your car LOOKS HOT.

Hello! Im interested what are you doing for living, if you dont mind. Why do you need a showcar... I mean "when you park a f430 spyder next to a Murci I think the murci steals all the glory"... that sounds very strange!
Plus my dad has Aston Martin DB9 Volante, and when he parks it near Lambo, even Murci... he has all the glory! Aston is a truly mans car! Think about it...
Good luck!Brgds,
European

lol.Aston is beautiful, no denying that. The performance of Ferrari or Lamborghini is definitely on a higher level than that of Aston Martin.
Apparently there are many hard core MB SL fans here that think you're crazy for wanting to get rid of your SL65 for a Lambo. I agree and disagree with many of their posts. Yes, the SL65 is a versatile yet very fast car. It is faster than many exotics to 100mph but it does lack some virtues in an exotic. Since I have an SL600 and a Lambo Gallardo, I can say from experience that they are 2 totally different cars for different purposes. If you already have a daily driver, then I would totally recommend that you get the LP640. The high end SL's are great cars with lots of performance, but they do get "lost" in the crowds of SL500's out there. Granted, my SL600 is not quite as exclusive as your SL65, but even the $190K SL65 tends to blend with all of the daily drivers on the road.
BTW, the balloon white looks killer but my favorite is orange. Have you gone to OC Lambo? I bought mine from Armen and I must say it was undoubtedly one of my best car buying experiences and I've bought over a dozen cars in the past 5 years.
Good luck on your decision. When you're ready to hang with the Lambo group in Orange County, PM me.
Frank.

You offer great info and insight, I appreciate your post. I'm looking to buy @ the middle of june 2008, I want to see if any new model will be coming out, if so the price of the 2008 might be a little more soft. Also, I like the 3 year warranty now that lambo offers for the 2008 models.
I also heard great things about Lambo OC, I will shop there first and see what they offer.
I will definately take you up on the offer to join you guys (the Lambo Group in OC) when I get the LP640, I can't wait.

We are all car enthusiast here and we love and admire cars for what they mean to us individually, it does not mean I need a show car. However, if you think driving a LP640 is needing a show car, then I am guilty of it.
I don't really think it matters what a person does for a living when they choose what cars to drive, as long a they can afford it. I'm just a average guy who works hard and now I get the chance to fullfill my automobile dreams.
Damn, I gotta pay off my student loans quicker now.

Would also help having a local hookup at the dealerships nearby...
A friend of mine was looking at a slightly used Bentley GT coupe. Dealership was asking for $167,000 and he offered $160,000. The dealer told him if he couldn't spend the extra $7,000 he probably couldn't afford the car. He was going to write a check for the car too (no financing).

I must say that, for me the, most stop and stare car on the road is the DB9 Volante, though I concede that's it's a GT not a sports car so see why it's not on your shortlist. I'll be very tempted by one when I move out of the city as it would make a perfect weekend car.
I'd seriously think about an SLR if I were you as it isn't too different in cost to the LP.
