But if I had $300,000 to drop on a 3rd or 4th car of that nature I wouldn't be annoying you by typing this now would I?
It doesn't apply to new Ferraris and Lambos, they can be as docile in traffic as any Honda Civic.
I agree that 599 would be a better choice then LP640 but only if you can get one at MSRP.
At current markups ,Lambo beats the Ferrari hands down with that $200k price difference.
Also, someone mentioned DB9 Volante as the best looking, maybe so but that car is slow and becoming more "girlie" as time goes by.

the only ferrari i would get right now is the new f430. i love the way they look. but the 599 front end looks too much like an aston martin. but it's a good thing you are considering a lambo. the lp640 is probably my favorite car right now period. yes, i'd take it over an enzo or an SLR. plus with the lambos, you are getting 4wd and all the luxuries you'd expect from a GT: you can't go wrong with them. the SL65 is a nice, fast car, BUT it is not an exotic. plus it is way too heavy and you'll see atleast a hundred SL's per day (SL500, SL55 are most common) if you come down to beverly hills/hollywood. you are doing the right thing by selling your SL and getting a murcie. NOTHING turns more heads then lambos. and dont get me started on that exhaust.

The only issue I would have (personally) with buying an LP640 or a 599 would be service for them. One guy in town will even bother to look at them and his rates start at $300 an hour and go up from there. No on site parts avaliability so you have to factor in shipping time wait ect ect ect. A client of mine in the mining business has a Diablo. Nothing fancy just your regular run of the mill mid 90's Diablo. Last service he went in for was for the 30k mile service. Had to wait a week to get the car back and fork over a little over 29k for it. Maybe he got ripped, I wouldn't know as there is no one else around to compare prices with. Not worth the trouble for backwoods Alabama IMO, But in California it would be a different story I would hope.

As for the depreciation of the LP or 599.. Well at least they don't take as big of a nose dive in the first year of ownership as say a Fountain powerboat. Nothings rubs your *** rawer than taking a 140k hit that first year.

Lots of views and opinions to consider but the LP640 seems to be where your heart is so from one Trojan to another, just go for it.

I'm sure it'll bring you many miles of smiles.

Good luck in getting the price you want on your sale and tracking down the right replacement.

Smile Resale values

There seems to be many opinions on resale values of exotics. My opinion is that currently, the only premium/exotic car that currently holds its value well is the 430. There are many reasons to this but the main reason is that Ferrari builds so few. Yes, the 599 is about $170K over MSRP right now, but it's mainly because it just landed in the US for about 3 months now. Do you guys remember when the 612 came out? They couldn't give it away! Only time will tell what the true market for the 599 really is. I see many posts here of people complaining about dropping values in Lamborghinis. I will agree that they don't hold their value as well as the 430's, but when I tried to buy a 430 last summer, I learned a lot about the Ferrari business. You can't buy or put a deposit down for a brand new 430 unless you have bought numerous Ferrari's from that dealership before. That left me with having to buy a previously owned 430 at $35K - $50K over the original MSRP. I also noticed that 98% of the previsouly owned 430's had less than 1500 miles. These guys were basically buying them and flipping them. The dealerships didn't mind because they would charge a 10% consignment fee. Overall, I went to 2 different Ferrari dealerships and they were just too arrogant for my tastes. I also looked at previously owned Lamborghinis at the time and noticed that Lambo owners actually drove their cars because they tended to have higher mileage and as a result, that lowered resale values. I decided on a Gallardo because I wanted a brand new one spec'd for my tastes. Without going on and on, when was the last time you checked on the resale value of the SL65, SL600 or SL55? Or even an SLR or Porsche GT?

I spent 6 months shopping & researching for my exotic. So, this is my true experiences. If you can't pay, then don't play! Just remember, you only live once! Don't buy your dream car based on resale value. Would you marry a girl only because she cooked well?

140K it's a big hit, way out of my league.

You would not have swirl marks with this baby! It is the kind of exotic that I like.

i am sure a lot of people can 'afford' a car like this.. it's just a matter of whether you are spending 1% or 20% of your net worth on cars... some 'famous' people in my country owning a whole fleet of lambo and ferrari but i dun think they are billionaires...

dentist is the professional with the highest suicide rate... probably he needs a car like this to balance his stress...

as for the offer.. that's quite stupid.. .it's like telling u that i ll rip u off at the deal and treat myself a lambo... incredible offer... i am sure u are not a business man or u dun give a shxt the price u can sell the sl

that guy who compares the 599 and 640... that guy is great... i really wanna know who he is... as he's role playing himself as both a gentleman billionaire and movie star.... that's really hilarious... probably he's tom cruise .. who knows...

Which is why you always buy one used if possible. New retail price which ran 500k (using this as a round figure) for say a 42 foot Lightning with triple 502's on it would be around 360k a year later with as few as 20 hours on the boat. But this also depends on how bad in dept the original owner got himself into and how bad he wants out from under the upkeep of the boat. Remember a 502 isn't friendly with fuel economy. Three of them is almost murder...
