I love black cars too, but they get swirl marks so easily. I don't want to drive a 375k+ exotic car with swirl marks showing, it would just kill me. I think white and silver hide the swirl marks better.
My 2006 E55 is blk on blk. It looks soo good when it's nice and detailed.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

I sold my SL65 a few months back and replaced it with a Bentley GTC but looking back I agree it was about the best all around package out right now. My only beef and it was enough to sell was that it just didn't look different enough from the rest of the SL line up to make it feel like the almost 200k car it was supposed to be. When you are buying in this category you want something a bit rare but since it looks like any othe SL it lacked in that one category. Everything else about the car was great. As far as the new LP goes its a nice car but basically a warmed over Murci for a ton more money. When a real new model comes out this car will drop like rock. If a Murci is what you are after look for a steal on an 03-04 to use for a bit and not get hurt in. If a Ferrari is what you want I am sure you can find a 430 spider out there that you could drive for a while and not take a beating on as well. I would be careful with the LP. Just my opinion though!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

That is sound advise about the LP640, I've never gone into the super exotic territory before, it's a bit scary, the maintaince, service, insurance, and cost of ownership will be way more than what I'm use to. It is like going from my first car a Honda Civic Si Hatch Back to the SL65 TODAY. I think the new 3 year warranty from Lamborghini might calm some fears, and maybe I'll wait till the end of 2008 to see what the new model would be like.
Thanks for your input Jeff

That is how I feel about the 65 also Jeff, But the raw power of the V12Biturbo is so intoxicating that is why I bought it to begin with, I still feel the same way today. I got it for 50% off msrp so I feel really good about the purchase.

For a semi daily exotic that you won't get burned in I would say make some calls and track down a 430 spider or find a wild color Gallardo spider. If its a serious exotic you want, the 599 is still way over msrp, the LP to me is a way over priced murci and that leaves a couple year old Murci or an SLR or a Carrera GT. I am still toying with the SLR idea because I love the drivability of the car and the performance is up there with almost anything out right now and with a few tweaks from renntech it will be bad ***. I think if bought right the depreciation won't kill you like the LP so to me the SLR is the way to go.

your 65 has great interior but the ex is silver. every benz is silver. anyways its still nice and i wish i could afford it. now the white lambo is insane. i dont personaly like the 559.
if i had you money id get a 430 spyder in red or a lime green lambo g-spyder. probably the lambo.
good luck on both your sale and purchase.

I thought I like the 599's look when it first came out in the magazines, but when I saw it @ the WYNN Las Vegas I did not like it as much as the the LP640. The 599 is also 200k over msrp that makes it a 550k car, I could keep the sl65 and buy a lp640 for the 599's money.
430 spyder is very very nice, I would buy it if it was 265K but it's 330k just a little more puts me in a semi new lp640. when you park a f430 spyder next to a Murci I think the murci steals all the glory. As for the g-spyder, for the money I'm gonna spend, I want the top of the line Lambo.
Thanks for your kind wishes and your suggestions, it's much appreciated. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome.
By the way I wanted a white E55 or E63 and I might still trade for one, Your car LOOKS HOT.

For the SL65 I wanted in Black or White, but the silver came up and it was a great deal so I took it.

Hello! Im interested what are you doing for living, if you dont mind. Why do you need a showcar... I mean "when you park a f430 spyder next to a Murci I think the murci steals all the glory"... that sounds very strange!
Plus my dad has Aston Martin DB9 Volante, and when he parks it near Lambo, even Murci... he has all the glory! Aston is a truly mans car! Think about it...

Aston is beautiful, no denying that. The performance of Ferrari or Lamborghini is definitely on a higher level than that of Aston Martin.

SL65 vs. Lambo
Hey George:
Apparently there are many hard core MB SL fans here that think you're crazy for wanting to get rid of your SL65 for a Lambo. I agree and disagree with many of their posts. Yes, the SL65 is a versatile yet very fast car. It is faster than many exotics to 100mph but it does lack some virtues in an exotic. Since I have an SL600 and a Lambo Gallardo, I can say from experience that they are 2 totally different cars for different purposes. If you already have a daily driver, then I would totally recommend that you get the LP640. The high end SL's are great cars with lots of performance, but they do get "lost" in the crowds of SL500's out there. Granted, my SL600 is not quite as exclusive as your SL65, but even the $190K SL65 tends to blend with all of the daily drivers on the road.
BTW, the balloon white looks killer but my favorite is orange. Have you gone to OC Lambo? I bought mine from Armen and I must say it was undoubtedly one of my best car buying experiences and I've bought over a dozen cars in the past 5 years.
Good luck on your decision. When you're ready to hang with the Lambo group in Orange County, PM me.
Frank.

You don't think a Murcielago is a mans car? Its one of the most badass rides on the planet. It sounds like a monster and looks like a spaceship on steroids. Even Bruce Wayne rolled up with one in the latest Batman movie
lol.

You offer great info and insight, I appreciate your post. I'm looking to buy @ the middle of june 2008, I want to see if any new model will be coming out, if so the price of the 2008 might be a little more soft. Also, I like the 3 year warranty now that lambo offers for the 2008 models.
I also heard great things about Lambo OC, I will shop there first and see what they offer.
I will definately take you up on the offer to join you guys (the Lambo Group in OC) when I get the LP640, I can't wait.

I don't really think it matters what a person does for a living when they choose what cars to drive, as long a they can afford it. I'm just a average guy who works hard and now I get the chance to fullfill my automobile dreams.

Damn, I gotta pay off my student loans quicker now.![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Would also help having a local hookup at the dealerships nearby...
A friend of mine was looking at a slightly used Bentley GT coupe. Dealership was asking for $167,000 and he offered $160,000. The dealer told him if he couldn't spend the extra $7,000 he probably couldn't afford the car. He was going to write a check for the car too (no financing).

Ok, i dont want to sound biased, but i will never purchase a lamborghini. First off, the new Ferrari's have been going over sticker for over a year now. Thats great for us owners. I have owned 6 Ferraris in the past and have driven many lamborghini's. Honestly, i have to admit that the gallardo is pretty good for a lamborghini, but the murcielago just does not handle the proper way. As far as the 599 being over sticker, i understand. You can purchase it and drive it for a year, and then turn around and sell it for about the same price you purchased it for. The murcielago go under sticker now and they are also depreciating like crazy. A ferrari is the ultimate driving machine and you cannot go wrong with it. Unfortunetly, i do not have any connections for the 599 to help you out, but i wish i did. Also, for resell purposes, Ferrari's are much easier to sell in the future.

I must say that, for me the, most stop and stare car on the road is the DB9 Volante, though I concede that's it's a GT not a sports car so see why it's not on your shortlist. I'll be very tempted by one when I move out of the city as it would make a perfect weekend car.
I'd seriously think about an SLR if I were you as it isn't too different in cost to the LP.
