05 SL 55 AMG, 01 Turbusa/8.43 @ 183..1/4 mi.
Your question is loaded with about 4600 lbs. of explosives, but, regardless, the fact is I am prejudiced to Renntech............installation support/quality control/warranty.......I like 'em. Kleeman would have been my 2nd choice..........their stuff works well, from what I have read/heard.....
Renntech stuff on a -55 gets you close to 600 HP, if memory serves.
Kleeman, I do not know....BUT others on this site do.
Dave
P.S. Best of Luck in your Choice.

Out Of Control!!
I would go with RENNtech mainly because they do not cut the exhaust pipe and remove the primary cats. Such a modification to the emission system makes the car illegal to drive on the streets. Disclaimer - or so I have heard.

I did K2. Lotta bang for the $$. ECU reflash takes care of error codes so that car inspection goes through. Traction will be a problem though, the sound will not.

The word "best" is very subjective. Best in terms of power gains? Best in terms of reliability?
For instance;
Evosport has the shorty headers that produces the most gain compare to the other tuners while retaining the primary cats. If you do a search on the E55 board, many owners chose the Evosport headers and the Evosport cooling mod for the M113 Kompressor engine.
Regardless, the choice is ultimately yours, but the world of tuning isn't just Renntech and Kleemann.

For some reason, it seems that kleemann is more popular with 55 cars, while renntech is more popular with 600/65 cars. Almost all the fastest E55's have kleemann stuff installed, so I would definitly go with kleemann for SL55. A side benefit (that does not affect my decision) is that kleemann is cheaper too.

lookin at drag times. what about people that dont post thier times? also like i said the fastest cars even on drag times have a mix of parts. the fastest car to have just one tuners parts is sleeper X and he runs renntech! not sayin renn is better just sayin the mix of tuners right now is the way to go.

Upgrades
I put Kleemann on my SL55...love it. Headers, cats..
What I also installed was the Quaife differential.
When I took the car to the installed, they guy told me the quaife was a complete waste of money. He highly recommented the rest.
After I receievd my car back, I got an apology. He said the thing he was MOST impressed with was the differential.
Car runs great, but I'm not sure how I would hold traction without it. I highly recommend adding that in.
About 2k FYI

A number of guys have run NO2 on E55's, including the one that I think holds the dragstrip record for an E (a high 10).
