Mods to SL65

What mods have you SL65 owners completed on your cars?

I'm considering a couple myself, ECU/TCU, airbox and intercooler. I understand the benefit of the ecu/tcu, but not sure about the airbox and intercooler. Any advice?

Airbox allows better breathing for the turbos and intercooler cooling kit further reduces air intake temperatures.

I am assuming you are referring to RennTech parts.

We are a RennTech dealer in Orange County, if you have any further questions you are welcome to give me a call.

Looking
What should those mods cost, including labor? I'm aking as I'm getting a 600 SL with the AMG package, and I'm considering exactly the same mods.

Thanks,
David

Cost of the ecu/tcu, airbox and intercooler upgrade is in the $15k area.

I always tell clients to take it slow. Start with ECU work, and then drive the car and see if you like it. You can add from there....airbox, intercooler upgrades, etc.

That's what I was thinking - ecu/tcu first followed by the intercooler to keeps things cool.

The ECU/TCM upgrade is priced at $6,800. that is the best bang for the buck you'll find on the 65, I would start with there as RENNtech is one of the only ones who also upgrade the TCM.
Then if you feel the need for some added horsepower, and more air, the CF air box is available for your picking.

I would however suggest the intercooler upgrade above the air box.

Let me know if you need any further information, we are the RENNtech dealer for San Diego, GMG would take care of you as well.

Interesting responses to the mod question. Some people reccommend the airbox before the intercooler and others believe the airbox is useless. Has anyone dynoed their car with and without the airbox?

Has anyone experienced any problems (other than wheelspin) with the ecu/tcu mod? Any failures or other problems experienced with the intercooler upgrade?

I thought Treynor did a dyno before and after the Renntech airbox and got zip. You might try poking around to confirm...
