Anybody here without the speed limiter? If so, what's the highest speed you've driven or have heard?
190mph to humiliate a C7 Corvette at 3am on the I10, Louisiana to Texas coming back from Mardi Gras with a truck full of purple and green beads. Could have crossed 200pmh but the Corvette had already vanished in my rear view mirror and I didn’t know the road too well.
100% FACTUAL -Done it!!! 04 55 AMG /as a matter of fact even faster20’ Wheels
2004 Mercedes-Benz Sl 55 Amg supercharged stock 146,000 miles-the car has 20 inch rims on it at the moment with the hard top up with draggy-short of running out the road I hit 204MPH stock wheels on the car or 18 inch I have 20s so truth be told I probably was doing about 210 to 212 or more-on a basically stock vehicle//-I also have the SLR slayer set up to 690 rear wheel horsepower actually 700 rear real horsepower…-fun times are abound…-I also just for safety sake tested. The rollbar comes up in one 1/20 of 100th of a second faster than half a blink of an eye…. Little rocket ship Smile maker German engineering at its finest form, probably one of the last of the greatest-M113K one of the best ever engines in the universe It’s funny being a Roman Catholic and not being not a vanity plate just a complete pic of the litter, which makes it the most funniest license plate ever I could never not have that too funny of a story Father and son daily and other weekend vehicle the Daly is almost double the horsepower😂 How can this not put a smile on your face?
[img alt="How could this not make you want to redo and repaint your engine bay? Also, no mine does not look like this at the moment but it will.

Also, no mine does not look like this at the moment but it will. The night time is always the right time😊 I think it says it all-thanks VAG…
My 2003 SL55 AMG has an aftermarket pulley, and may have a tune to go with as well? I have no idea what pulley, etc, as I got no paperwork with it when I bought the car. I have not had it over about 110 MPH as there aren't any roads near me where I can go faster, and don't want to lose my licenst. But the car is the most amazing thing to drive! Before the AMG, I owned a 2004 SL600 that had a RennTech tune, and the guy I sold it to lives in Montana where they have some highways that have no speed limit? Although the speedo only goes to 160MPH, he has an app on his cellphone that tells him he got up to 178 MPH and says there was way more gas pedal left, and for sure that car will probably do 220 MPH. He brings the car here every summer for a month long visit. I'd like to find out how fast my SL55 will go.
In late 2002 or early 2003, when the R230 was introduced, Motor Trend brought a 2003 SL55 AMG to see Mario Andretti who was retired and had bought a winery in Napa valley in California. Mario drove the car on a nearby track doing 0-60, 60-0, 0-100, slalom, etc. He got the car to 208 MPH!!! This was supposedly off-the-shelf, right from a dealership? There's a video of the episode on Youtube although they blocked it in the US due to copyright, but using a TOR browser that masks your location and country, you can see that video! I wonder did that car have the 160-MPH limiter? How'd he go to 208 MPH? Maybe they turned off the limiter for Mario? After driving, Mr. Andretti got out of the car with a very big smile, and said the car was "Awesome, awesome".
Seen it done it😂//-truth be told when you’re going anytime over approximately about I’ll just say 160+ I’m not looking at the gauge or gauges unless I have HUD-a quick glance, possibly-people that know know- and it gets even hairier or you’re over 185 when aerodynamics and lift starts kicking in… 😵💫 And the adrenaline is 😊😊… 🤙🏼
Mercedes claims the SL55 AMG is aerodynamically limited to 208 mph. I've done 190 plus and it was still pulling when I began to run out of road.
In December 2001 a delimited 02 model was taken to Nardo Test Track in Southern Italy. It recorded 202 mph, second only to a Lambo Murcielago that did 204 mph. All documented by EVO Magazine, Issue #52.
