SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: I hate it how...

I hate it how...
I've been watching some show on TV and they are showing all cars like, Ferrari, Lambo, Jaguar, and this and that. BWM too. And I havnt even seen Mercedes yet. Once. I drive down by the beach (in my SL55) and theres a Ferrari F360 next to me. Now I dont know everything about cars, but enough to get by. And everyone is all in Wow about the Ferrari next to me, when my car should be able to beat it, if not door to door. And they dont know that, they see a Ferrari or Lamborghini and think its the fastest car out there. (Not saying mine it)
Also!! Another thing that makes me mad is when I go out of MY way to park as FAR as I can from every other car. And no matter how far I park or where I always seem to come out with a car next to me. Honestly, its like was that really nessasary?

I have to admit the 360 is a blast to drive once I get out of the heavily populated areas.

I understand your point, I've driven a few nice sports cars over the years. On the opposite side of the coin, I actually love the fact that many people DON'T know how "special" an SL 55 or 65 really is. Kind of like most people would recognize a Rolex, not many a Panerai. The understatedness is a good thing in my book.

Even in Los Angeles (the land of nice cars), the Ferrari gets rock star attention. The SL600 rarely attracts a second look.

I understand your point, I've driven a few nice sports cars over the years. On the opposite side of the coin, I actually love the fact that many people DON'T know how "special" an SL 55 or 65 really is. Kind of like most people would recognize a Rolex, not many a Panerai. The understatedness is a good thing in my book.
I agree...I like the approvals from the people in the "know". I might get a more flashy car next year for my "inner child."

yeap agree about Ferrari's or Lamborghini's thats just the way it is,its kind of same thing with porsche boxsters u can not go anywhere without someone taking the mickey about not being able to afford a 911(thats the mindset). I also know what u mean about car parking spaces there are at least 10 other spaces around but the wreck has to park beside us lol.

well ppl dont know that your 55 is faster than a 360, but they do know what a ferrari is. ppl love a red ferrari, or a yellow lambo. its the car they can never have....... you actually want ppl to swarm around your car? well, i mean we all chose the MB brand, so we all want the occasional envious stare, but who cares if ppl are giving the ferrari more attention. you have nothing to be jealous about, you have a nice car. even though your's is faster, he still has a very nice, desired vehicle. lets say he paid 225k+ for his car. he paid 75K more than someone would pay for a SL600. if he paid 75k more for the extra attention, i think he deserves it.NOTA4RE, congrats on the 360, you should post a pic of the 360 next to the SL55. make it big so i can use it as my background lol

I think that we are missing the point. Who really cares what anyone else thinks. The SL55 is a great car in its own right, and if the average 'Joe' doesn't know it.....oh, well. When they are paying my bills, then I'll care. Be happy with what you have and the choices you have made. Thry are good ones.
I have a number of Ferrari's, and I have had them for so long that I don't notice the attention. Truth be told, I have surprised many Ferrari's, Lambo's. Porsche's, etc on mountain roads and race tracks with the 55. And there isn't one of them that can say that they have reached down and hit the seat massager when they were doing 202mph! I can!

i am just kidding... my father has no phantom...
the new SL will come out in 1 or 2 years... it's too expensive for me to do the mod now... coz it will become an old SL by then no matter it's modded or not... although i really do wanna keep my car for much longer time as it's so perfect...
and i read somewhere an user friendly and entry level ferrari (F149??) will come out around the same time... probably it's perfect substitute for us SL lovers..

The 360 conv. will get 100 glances compared to the SL's 1 glance.....but the SL is still baller status. 
Also the heavily face lifted R230 SL will be out in 2008 as a 2009 model most likely. The real next gen SL should be 2-4 years away depending on the sales of the final version facelifted R230.
